We had bath taken out and a lovely walk in shower installed.
I tend to shower and wash hair every other day.
Although I like feeling fresh and doing hair I’m beginning to find the whole thing a right performance especially cleaning down the screen and floors afterwards.
Sometimes DH goes in after me so he does it then.

Once a week....

Glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes more if weather very hot or if I've been more active than usual or going somewhere special (a rarity in these covid times) but it seems more and more of a faff as you get older. I daren't have a bath as the last time I did I needed help getting out. Thankfully my daughter was to hand and I hadn't locked the bathroom door! As I mostly live alone I won't be repeating that experience.

Very interesting discussion and topic! I have a wet room which I clean with a large scoop of water followed by a little thick bleach thrown on the floor. I then use a soft broom to wipe it all towards the plug hole. I use a little wad of toilet paper to wile up the wet dust and fluff near the plug hole and out it down the toilet, then I use an old towel and a stiff broom to dry the floor.

The tiles are wiped down with bathroom cleaner and old towel and only around the mucky areas near where splashes and drips go.

I’m afraid that sounds like an incredible faff to me!

A quick spray with Method daily shower shine and leave.

How interesting! Thank you! I’ll certainly try the Aldi spray.
It’s just that I find the whole thing-washing/drying hair after cleaning shower such a faff! Ho hum!

Bath and hair wash 2 or 3 times a week, rinse down Bath - have a wash on the other days - live alone and don't go out every day so this works for me - hate wasting water, but don't have a shower

We shower every morning and take turns to dry the walls and screen with a Karcher and microfibre cloth. I clean it properly once per week with cleaning spray and buff it with the towels that are about to go in the wash. Being in a soft water area, there is no limescale.

Shower twice a day, I dont feel clean otherwise.

What I’d like to know is how does the mat in my shower get dirty? I’ts extremely rare that I’m ‘dirty’ when I get in the shower (the exception being when I’ve been on the allotment in the rain), I use soap and shampoo then rinse the blooming cubicle - so where does the muck on the mat come from?

It’s a puzzlement! ?

I have the walk in shower and have a shower every day. In the summer on hot days when we have them I shower in morning and if hot and sticky also shower before bed.
I wash my hair every third day,
I used to love the bath and would have a good soak with plenty of scented candles placed around the bath however with back problems and sciatica I could no longer push myself up and get out of the bath as lower back was fragile.
I have learnt to live with it now.

nadateturbe Thu 23-Sept-21 12:45:21

The water doesn't really get dirty.

nadateturbe Thu 23-Sept-21 12:42:58

When I use bubble bath I wipe round the sides with a sponge before I get out. And a quick rinse does it. Much easier than shower.

Once a day for us, and clean the shower once per week. We're satisfied with that, but obviously other aren't: that's personal preference. which is how it should be

GrannyGear Thu 23-Sept-21 09:57:37

I can't understand the complaints that showers are more trouble to clean than baths. A bath takes more space, it's hard to get into the corners and then there are taps to clean.
We have a walk-in shower. After replacement hip operations I can't step over something at waist height to get into/out of a bath. (We do have a bath as well but don't use it. )
Some of the gransnetters seem to spend a lot of time cleaning their showers - can all that wiping down be really necessary?

People have BO not only because they don't shower/bath/wash enough but because that don't change their clothes often enough. I only shower 3 times a week because of very dry skin - and have a 'good' wash the other days - but I am very particular about putting on clean clothes!

lemsip Wed 22-Sept-21 09:41:06

I shower as soon as I get up in the morning before breakfast but after my cup of tea though......if a busy day again in evening.

I have a friend who before covid I hugged her and she had that unwashed hair unfresh smell....not bo and if I hadn't of hugged I wouldn't have known as she didn't smell to be near but

The Dove products were recommended by my Dermatologist at the Hospital. They are 'not soap' they will not dry out the skin.. even the Dove beauty bar is not soap.it does not contain the harsh ingredients of imperial leather ect; which I previously used.

maddyone Wed 22-Sept-21 09:00:02

I shower and my husband does before bed. I could never get into my bed dirty.

maddyone Wed 22-Sept-21 08:58:24

I shower or bath every day. I'm using the Method shower spray at the moment after my shower, but it's not as good as others, so won't buy it again. I like other Method products but not this one. We clean the whole bathroom thoroughly once a week, but I clean the washbasin and toilet every day with Method bathroom cleaner or similar.

Kartush Wed 22-Sept-21 00:32:35

My husband and I have our own showers, we both shower every night before bed then again if we have an appointment that needs us to get up close and personal. Husband washes his hair every night, I do mine once a week. Showers get cleaned as they need it

Eloethan Wed 22-Sept-21 00:03:45

I have a bath first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I find it more difficult to sleep if I haven't had a bath at night.

I don't like showers at all. The only time I use it is to rinse my hair.

LovelyLady Tue 21-Sept-21 21:32:21

MissAdventure. I agree everything is bad for us. Yes Imperial Leather gives a light fresh clean smell.

Jess20 Tue 21-Sept-21 21:01:38

Shower daily but wash my hair every 2 weeks.

MissAdventure Tue 21-Sept-21 20:59:00

I think coal tar soap is good for some skin conditions; I quite like the smell of it.
I love imperial leather, too.

I reckon everything is bad for us.

LadyStardust Tue 21-Sept-21 20:53:04

I shower daily, fairly quickly. Never bathe and as for wiping down afterwards? I just walk out and leave it! A good clean once a week is all it gets! Those shower sprays get on my chest and make me cough. They can't be good for you surely?

Forsythia Tue 21-Sept-21 20:50:51

I like a bath but I’m now finding it hard to get out! I have to get on my knees and haul myself up and out so a bath once a week is a luxury for me. Otherwise I shower every day, hair wash once or twice a week. We have hard water and I’ve tried most sprays but still have watermarks on the glass screen. It’s a pain!
