Can anyone cast any light on this?

Obviously it's a cheese dome (!!!) I bought it from a bric a brac stall at a school fair about 30 years ago. I love it but the rest of my family are very dismissive.

I have looked on line but can find nothing at all about it.

It is obviously worth nothing but I wondered if it rang any bells with anyone.

There is a signature, for what it's worth.

Can't shed any light on it for you kittylester but I love it! I can see that looking good on my Welsh dresser so if you decide to part with it............? smile

That's nice.
The only think I can think is cheese + blue and white China = Dutch?

kittylester Tue 26-Oct-21 10:25:25

I have a glass one but it does not have any holes in the lid.
Your one is lovely a lot nicer than some of the ones I have seen.

Sorry posted too quick, it could be for Paté, still very nice.

Is this similar?

annodomini Tue 26-Oct-21 14:00:50

Mine is a heavy pottery one. It matches the dinner service which I have handed over to my family. They were made to order by the potter son of a friend many years ago and the plates have a potters' guild mark on the back.

Yes, a bit! What is that, missadventure?

What is striking on the two photos is that the lines are quite thin. Unlike say Cornish pottery or China where the stripes are heavy.

Josianne Tue 26-Oct-21 14:40:37

I did see these from Laura Ashley when looking for some plates for us, (living on the coast). You could buy half a dozen side plates for the cheese course with your dome!

ayse Tue 26-Oct-21 14:40:59

Maybe take it to the Antiques Road show if it comes to somewhere near you. They should be able to tell you something about it.

That is very much like the Cornish Ware of my childhood!! John Lewis have some very similar and, in fact, we have just bought a new everyday service that is blue and white.

Ayse, I suspect it is a way off qualifying as an antique!! My suspicion is that it is 70s ish but I am happy to be put right. It was second hand in the mid 80s ish!

MissAdventure Tue 26-Oct-21 14:59:08

I'm afraid I have no idea. grin

BarJam Tue 26-Oct-21 15:24:55

Are there any marks under the plate or inside the dome?

kittylester Tue 26-Oct-21 17:12:21

None at all, just the signature in the photo.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 26-Oct-21 17:50:04

No idea, kittylester but it’s much nicer than my clear glass ones.

They see all sorts at the ARS. These days it might qualify as retro ?

dragonfly46 Tue 26-Oct-21 18:48:03

It is lovely. It does look Dutch although it would have the Delft mark I would have thought.

It is in my retro dining room so count it as retro. grin

I was going to say Cornish ware.
Not the same stripes as TG Green though.
