Newberry or Meltis fruits?

There are lots on Amazon if you search for the original liquid centres.

kittylester I’ve just looked again and realise it says on some packs ‘soft centres’ so I’m not sure that actually means the liquid ones.

They have been discontinued unfortunately. My Dad loved them, so did I. I think the only ones you can get now (including on Amazon) are the ones with the jelly centres.

My mum loved these too and the York fruits don’t have the melty centre.

They are still made but in Germany. Amazon have them but they are a tad expensive. Still it is Christmas and could make a nice present. Santa please note they are one of my favourites too.

I loved them as a child, so did my father, they were an occasional treat.

Have they gone the same way as Batger’s Chinese Figs? Both the Figs and Newberry Fruits, used to be among my ‘ must haves’ at Christmas.

Oh, I remember Batgers Chines figs, along with crystallized fruits. Haven't seen them for years.

Have never heard of Batgers Chinese figs, they sound very intriguing. Meltis/Newberry fruits were my Nan's favourite but I loved Clarnico peppermint creams.

My mother loved these, Kitty and insisted they were part of her Christmas.
I'm sure I saw them in Home Bargains recently.

I bought some in Home Bargains but they didn’t have the essential crunchy bit in the middle. Looked exactly like the original. Disappointed

I haven't stockpiled them. Awful things. To each their own.

I recently bought some at the food bit of garden centre thinking they would be the real deal - they weren't!

I used to love those jellies too, along with the crystalized fruits that were in a wooden box.
There's not even any decent chocolate as once was, like Terry's of York with their 1769 ? chocs of days gone by. Boxes with little drawers in them and the chocs were delicious as well.

I loved newberry fruits that crunchy liquidy fruity bit ummm my favourites but not seen them for years why do they stop these popular things

I'm sure I saw something similar to Newberry Fruits last week in Lidl. I didn't take a lot of notice but Newberry Fruits flitted through my mind at the time. It would be worth having a look there, Kittylester.
