Will you be buying any commemorative ware? grin

Larsonsmum Wed 02-Feb-22 12:50:41

I think they are great! Marketed correctly I can actually see them selling, especially thanks to the inadvertent nod to Del Boy. 'Only Fools & Horses' is an institution for many in the UK, just like our wonderful Royal Family are for many.

Are we sure it was an error, and not a clever plan by wholesalers/market traders to place a huge 'Jubbly' order?

Then now with this huge amount of media focus/publicity they will be selling like hot....plates!!

Blossoming they would freeze my little hands though on the walk back from the shop and shoooot out usually into some gravelly puddle? still quick rinse under the kitchen tap…

henetha Wed 02-Feb-22 16:14:48

They'll probably become collectable and gain value. I thought it was hilarious!

crazyH Wed 02-Feb-22 16:20:08

I will buy a commerative something, mainly to send to my sister in law in Canada, who loves anything Royal. I’ve sent her a couple of things in the past, commemorative mugs mainly.

crazyH Wed 02-Feb-22 16:22:44

It’s on eBay for £1000 - the ‘Jubbly’plate, I mean

Judy54 Wed 02-Feb-22 17:09:51

Hilarious! As Del Boy would say lovely jubbly!

HettyBetty Wed 02-Feb-22 20:36:05

I think its comedy value makes it a lot less naff than a correctly produced souvenir.

Not that I'll be buying either sort.

... I suspect the Queen might also see the funny side of this - who knows, she might even order one for herself!

Mamardoit Wed 02-Feb-22 21:36:11

I understand that our village parish council intend to give every pre school, and primary school child a mug to mark the event. Thankfully mine are much too old.

Unfortunately I have a box full of mugs etc. supplied by the PC to commemorate various failed royal marriages, and other events. The adult DC don't want them, I bet the charity shop would refuse them.

I have no wish to add to the collection.

no, I'm not fan of RF

GrammarGrandma Thu 03-Feb-22 10:58:56

It's made in China, is hideous and there are 10,000 of them so will not have any rarity value.

Nannapat1 Thu 03-Feb-22 11:06:49

Well I have to buy a mug with the dates on (daren't name the brand in case comment is deleted) as I was born in 1952. I had a mug and another piece ten years ago saying '60 Years A Queen' and it could have been made for me personally!

Lulubelle500 Thu 03-Feb-22 12:07:42

I thought David Jason owned the copyright to that word!

Nannan2 Thu 03-Feb-22 12:11:17

Dunno where Esther is, but i think they still sell lovely jubbly 'lollies' even now...?

Nannan2 Thu 03-Feb-22 12:11:45

And no i wont buy the china.

Nannan2 Thu 03-Feb-22 12:12:57

My older sis was born in 1952- shes the type who might but one..?

Nannan2 Thu 03-Feb-22 12:16:48

So jubilee is 6th feb but we're marking it in june??? Or have i got that wrong???

paddyann54 Thu 03-Feb-22 12:19:39

I dont think commemorative china is ever an investment We've just cleared my late MIL's home and it was awash with the stuff .My daughters friend is an antiques expert and she says you cant give it away ,especially the Charles and Di or Andy and Sarah stuff ,so it has all gone to the tip .We did keep one item from the 1930's along with a newspaper from that date for the GC's school thought it might be a useful thing in their history lessons .

Nobody wants a street party in February!

Paperbackwriter Thu 03-Feb-22 12:24:48

I'm going to get one, if I can! It think it's quite fun.

Lizzie44 Thu 03-Feb-22 12:25:35

Feb 6th 1952 was the date of accession to the throne - the date of the death of George VI.

The commemorative plate is hilarious. I love the lion and the unicorn - a kind of mash up of the Lion King and My Little Pony.

Saggi Thu 03-Feb-22 12:26:58

OMG…. still talking about these silly people.

Ilovedragonflies Thu 03-Feb-22 13:17:51

Call me silly then. This is hilarious and I find myself wanting one purely for the fun factor. Life's miserable enough and this is welcome light relief.
