Will you be buying any commemorative ware? grin

No definately not, even if it might be worth a lot in the future, its a disgrace.
Typically made in China, they can keep their rubbish, as they should have kept the virus.

I think Feb 6th is the Acession, June is the coronation. I had a coronation mug and a teaspoon.

The coronation was the next year, 1952 so presumably they've chosen that date as a compromise because the weather should be better.

I've got a coronation mug (somewhere) and a teaspoon used daily. I also had a tiny model of the coronation coach and horses but it fell to bits a few years ago.
Just looked £146! I'd have stuck it back together if I'd known.

Callistemon21 Thu 03-Feb-22 14:11:13

Typo - 1953

I should check before I post!

timetogo2016 Thu 03-Feb-22 14:12:10

I was given a book and a pen with a crown on the top. Still got the book, don't know what happened to the pen. All courtesy of the school.

Of course it was Callistemon I was working out I was 7 but as my birthday isn't until December it would be '53. Fancy forgetting blush.
Do you suppose they'll want us to celebrate in 2023 as well? Or are they doing it in 2022 just to make sure it happens????

I found it! nostalgiacentral.com/pop-culture/food-drink/jubbly-2/

Yes, we used to buy them on the way home from school, I think they cost 3p (a threepenny bit!)

I’ve got the little coach and horses. It sits on my table to this day!

I'm trying to remember when the Silver Jubilee was by my DC's ages.
Must have been 1977 and it would have been in the summer too because we had a street party.

Mine sat in a glass cabinet, Grandma70s and one day I took it out to show a DGC and it broke in a few places - it seemed like metal fatigue!

BlueBelle Thu 03-Feb-22 16:30:33

No no no no no

grandtanteJE65 Thu 03-Feb-22 16:33:23

It probably will be more valuable than one without a mistake, but no, I shan't buy one. The unicorn is definitely too small, and should not be sliding off the edge, even although Scotland is considering independence! The lion is wearing the wrong crown and neither Wales nor N. Ireland are represented.

Added to that HM looks unlike herself at any age!

FannyCornforth Thu 03-Feb-22 16:35:23

I remember the 1977 Silver jubilee. I was 5!
It was such a big deal.
And now we are returning to those days in so many ways.
I don’t think that a few flags and sarnies are going to cut it sad

Good heavens, there are some differing ages on here. I was 37!

It's so long ago I can't remember.

But if you were 5 you'd love a street party.

I was 21 and travelling back to the Midlands from Devon with DH. We saw smoke from the beacons all the way home.

MerylStreep Thu 03-Feb-22 20:32:23

We have started talking about what we are going to do in our close.
Fortunately we are all bungalows so it’s easy take the flags ( loads and loads ?) round the telegraph poles. and back to the properties.

win Thu 03-Feb-22 20:42:50

How grim is that!! What an insult!!

Patsytaylor Thu 03-Feb-22 20:48:33

I buy these all the time for my grandchildren. Vimto triangle ice lollies

Sara1954 Thu 03-Feb-22 20:55:46

So far I’ve bought an Emma Bridgewater tea towel, but I may be tempted by a nice piece of pottery, we love the Queen.
Probably give that one a miss though Riverwalk.

In the late 50s early 60s you could buy an orange drink called Jubbly. It was best frozen. It came in triangular pyramid shaped cardboard. It was marketed as Lubbly Jubbly. Maybe HM has an interest???

Iceland sell them.

Ali08 Thu 03-Feb-22 21:00:08

OMG!! I bet the Queen is livid!!
It doesn't even look like her, and the spelling - don't get me started kn the spelling!!!
