If you won the lottery what would you buy?

When I was younger I wanted a big house with stables, menage, fields and a long private drive. These days I wouldn't even move from my 3 bed rented house but I would love a small holiday home by the sea.

I would help my children buy nice houses and set my granddaughter up for later in life.

I would splash out on a classic red Ford Mustang and a few nice cruises a year.

Lucca
Know what you mean!
Do you remember when someone asked that if you had a choice what would you choose Health, Wealth or Happiness it was Wealth well now I know better it would be Health the other two are achievable.

I can't buy what I really want but I would get a slightly bigger house of my own design with a kitchen/diner.

I'd give away a reasonable amount to family, friends and charities of my choice.

Always promised myself if I won a decent amount I would give half to charity. Of course whether I actually would remains to be seen, don't suppose I'll ever know. Won £4.30 on Euro lottery this morning!

A nice (but not too extravagant) house in a quiet area to live out my retirement with my husband and cats. With a small conservatory to sit in. A nice house for my daughter. After that, if it was a huge win, I would like to set up and finance the running of a shelter for abandoned animals. I would get great pleasure from that.

Private dentistry, new car, commission a 'self build' eco home - give daughter and son enough they can do similar. Invest for income and then give to education related causes. Perhaps a bit of luxury travel.

Buy a massive mansion and have it converted into flats for the whole family. Donate to addiction rehab clinics

Obviously I would take care of my children and grandchildren - that goes without saying.

I'd also donate large sums to some small local charities.

But then - I've always said that if I win big on the lottery, I would like to work with a charity, and purchase lots of homes around the country, to be available at very affordable rents, for those who are wanting to flee DV. So many people say they can't leave as they have nowhere to go, or they can't leave their pets behind. My properties would be child and pet friendly.

Pay for private health surgery

I'd like to set up a big community hub.
Lift sharing, food, company, lessons, advice, practical support.
A proper community venture.

I'd buy a house with some land so I could have my Hospice for animals, dogs/cats.
It breaks my heart that so many are "left" when old / ill. They should all pass with a name and feeling loved and secure.

I'd ensure my immediate family were secure financially.

I'd donate to TB and Stroke charities and my treat would be a constant supply of new socks!!

A new car, then treat my children, I wouldn’t change anything else in my life…..as I’m happy as I am, but it would be nice to have a gardener! …..

I would buy house for daughter and one for us to move to the coast, really struggling to breathe the polluted air here. Then I'd give the rest to charities, environmental, rainforest, animals and people in need, particularly refugees and girls who can't get access to education.

Sorry you are not having a good day Lucca and even more sorry that you can't buy what you need. ?

Anniebach Wed 09-Feb-22 10:58:55

Ooh kittylester. I love Aldeburgh! House in the Clouds and the Windmill. Lovely childhood memories ❤

We are on holiday in Aldeburgh at the moment and looked at house prices shock. Apparently Aldeburgh is the 2nd most expensive seaside town as far as property is concerned so all donations gratefully received!!

Lucca, can we help? flowers

A housekeeper to put clean linen on my bed every day and to cook dinner every evening.
Fabulous holidays travelling first class.
A brand new wardrobe full of clothes.
New house and holiday homes in France and New York.
A personal trainer.
Buy my local football club.
I could go on and on …

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 09-Feb-22 10:07:16

PS we once had an amazing win on the Football Pools it was £17 and with it we bought 4 tyres and a new Battery for our car which had been stood up for weeks whilst we tried to save up enough to get it on the road, we had only just got married and didn’t have any money and it was difficult to get to our remote places of work without the car. By the way the rent we paid on our flat at the time was £20 a month so the win, for us, was huge.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 09-Feb-22 10:03:16

I would buy houses for the ACs, trust funds for the GCs and help out MrOops family.
I’d move South (back home) close to the sea and then we would travel whilst we can still get around.
We donate to several charities so we could help them out even more. MrOops has always wanted to help new Business Start ups with young people, so that would be a good use of the money. I would get the RNLI a new lifeboat and our (almost) local school is always crying out for money to do extra curricular activities so those are the first things I would do. Then invest the rest, of course if I only won £3.80 I would have to scale back a bit…….

House for DD and DGS. A different house for me (new and easy to look after).

Private school for DGS.

Driving lessons and car for DD.

Oh Lucca ?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 09-Feb-22 09:40:53

I’m so sorry Lucca.?

Lexisgranny Wed 09-Feb-22 09:39:15

If I had a big win, I would set up a charitable organisation with responsible people to assess all the inevitable requests for help and with discretion to distribute appropriate funds.

I would also set up trust funds for my immediate family and make sure they all had mortgage free homes. I would probably move to a more eco friendly home, and buy another on the coast which has always been my husband’s aim.

There might be a weekend away somewhere special for all my family, but no lavish parties. I suppose to do all this the win would have to be the upper end of Euro Millions!

FannyCornforth - Had I had your ‘big win’ I think I would either frame it and stick it in the loo, or find something absolutely pointless to make you laugh every time you thought about the day you won!

EkwaNimitee Wed 09-Feb-22 09:09:49

I'd be generous to my family then travel, travel, travel!
You can't buy what you may really want, to me that would be health and happiness for me and mine.
