If you won the lottery what would you buy?

When I was younger I wanted a big house with stables, menage, fields and a long private drive. These days I wouldn't even move from my 3 bed rented house but I would love a small holiday home by the sea.

I would help my children buy nice houses and set my granddaughter up for later in life.

I would splash out on a classic red Ford Mustang and a few nice cruises a year.

My children a house each and put a bit in the bank for them,
Then I would disappear on a long cruise

Nothing really, I would give most of it away to my family.

A holiday apartment in Llandudno for weekends away.

Lucca that's nice especially after your sad day.

I never gamble so am unlikely to win anything but I feel a bit guilty because several of the community groups I have been involved in have had generous grants from the lottery.
The group tend to be comfortably off and don't buy lottery tickets whereas those who buy tickets tend to be poorer people.

I'd buy land and rewild it, and donate money to children's education. As long as I had enough to stay warm, with access to good healthcare, the rest could go towards nature and the world's future generations.

I'd buy a big house for my DD and her family with an annex for DH and I.

Awwww thats so lovely... yes, such a simple little wish.

Lovely.

My mum used to say that if she won the lottery she would fill a drawer with tights so that she need never worry about finding herself without a pair.

Such a simple, happy little wish that summed up her contentment with life completely.

As for me, I would share it between my children and grandchildren. There’s nothing I really want except perhaps , a live in housekeeper. Yes, I’d like to be able to afford that - I hate housework

Notagrany, I hope your dream comes true ❤️

I'd buy a flat in London for my daughter, she has MH issues and is almost 30 issues having to live in house shares is becoming intolerable for her, but her income won't stretch to the £1.2K+ rent each month it takes for anything decent in her area. As a single parent working full time in the North of England earning a little over minimum wage I dream of being able to sneakily buy a flat and just going down and giving her the keys as a surprise

I'd buy in care to help me look after me husband. Its been a very long day today..

A chauffeur...... (I so hate driving!)

Lucca

I can’t buy what I need.

Me neither Lucca.

Definitely a chartered yacht in the Med with all the staff. I've always fancied telling the chef what I want to eat and sending him off to the markets to source the best possible foods while I laze around and swim in the warm waters.

Hell, yeah!

Foxglove77, I'd be very happy to redistribute my winnings - to family and my favourite charities. I can't think of anything I really want - that I don't already have (maybe an extra holiday, though).

Congratulations Lucca!

You could treat yourself to one of these (mind you, this one does look rather classy in comparison to some…)

Oh please no not the howling Wolf fleece. You’ll be wanting me to wear a jumper with appliqué flowers and sparkles next.

FannyCornforth Thu 10-Feb-22 07:03:38

Yes. That always happens to me too

Re The Lottery
The worst thing (if you do it online) is the teasing email they send you:

‘You have won a prize on Euromillions!
Log into your account to see it!’

Even worse when you read the email at midnight and can't log in for hours as they are updating the site.

It depends how much I won. If it was “only” £1m, I would set my family up.
If it was much more, I’d like to set up organisations to help children to learn to read, get people to learn to cook a la Jack Munroe, and be more adventurous, to get apprenticeships for something useful…. but I bet I wouldn’t be allowed to because my family once owned slaves.

How very odd.. I have just won £30 on the lottery.

Looking at the threads for inspiration maybe I’ll buy some loungewear and scandalise the locals by wearing it in Waitrose.
