Have any of you worn trousers/pants to a wedding? What are your views on this? Mother of the Bride/Groom.

50 years ago my Mum wore trousers to my wedding and she looked absolutely gorgeous!

Thank you all for your replies. Also Spice101 & Riverwalk for the photo's both look lovely.

(I would love to see more if anyone else has worn trousers to a wedding)

Like you Spice101 I haven't worn a dress or skirt in decades. I dislike my legs!

I wore capri pants with a fabulous long contemporary lace jacket for one of my daughters. Worn with smart heels and tonal hat it felt pretty stylish for a bride's mother.

I wear trousers all of the time. I’ll definitely wear a nice trouser suit if my son gets married. I just don’t feel comfortable in a dress or skirt.

My mother at 91 bought herself a pale grey trouser suit for my DS's wedding. She was very pleased with it and looked very nice. She had promised herself that she would fly over once more in her life if any of my boys got married and she did.

I wore a skirt, but it did rather accentuate my burgeoning paunch. I would wear trousers with a loose flowing top like in Spice101 's photo if DS3 ever tied the knot. Love the royal blue colour, too.

My DSis wore a trouser suit to her daughter's wedding . DSis was on crutches and could not wear fancy shoes or heels - she looked fine.

I wore a trouser suit for son's wedding, cream silk. Bride wore red and gold dress. Bride's mother wore a long dress so I thought my floaty trousers were acceptable.

All three outfits pictured are extremely elegant. I love the colours, the drape and the fabrics. They’re stunning.

I went to a wedding a few years ago where they had an afternoon wedding and a black tie dinner dance type reception. I searched for a suitable dress but came across a lovely cream and black silk overblouse in Jaeger. I wore it with black palazzo trousers and a stole. It was very comfortable and much admired. Wore same outfit to two more weddings and a reunion. It was loose and floaty, not structured so very 'occasion'.

I wore beautiful, floaty trousers to the weddings of both my daughters.

I didn't wear a hat either. My son-in-law's mother went along with me for the British wedding. In Italy, hats are thought of as hilarious and terribly British anyway so - no problem.

I love those floaty wide legged trousers, but I also like the look Judi Dench does of long top sometimes with a long jacket and narrower trousers. There are lot of examples on websites for Indian clothes. You sometimes get a long dress with trousers under it. I think Kate wore something like it on one of the RF tours.

I struggled to find a Mob outfit/frock I liked. I never wear flouncy floral frocks and spent months trying on endless dresses but ne er felt like me.
I bought pewter satin flowing trousers, a silk pale grey top and the most expensive jacket I ever had - armarni if you please. Topped it with a purple head piece and suffered in heels . I felt like me, and still love the clothes.

I wore a purple trouser suit for my own second wedding, after looking like a sugar plum fairy for my first to please my mother. Also trouser suit to my two sons’ weddings.

I’ve just done across some photographs from my daughter’s wedding. 10 years on, I still love my pewter silk trousers and Aramaic (darling) jacket.

I had a crushed velvet skirt and top made for my daughters wedding, at the last minute I decided it was too much and bought some black velvet trousers, I think it looked good.
