I’m considering getting flanelette sheets. I remember them being cosy but I also remember my Mum complaining about how long they took to dry. Do modern ones still take as long?

Thank you for the info. I would have to iron them, well DH would - my OCD won't let me sleep in unironed sheets and they have to have hospital corners

So where can you buy them that don't leave lots of fluff behind please?
Hands up everyone who hasn't had trouble with the auto correct.

Hi BigBertha

You can buy them Asda, Sainsburys, Dunelm .... I got mine online.

No trouble whatsoever with them.... and get this they dont need ironing !!!! whoaaaa yes you read correctly.... ironing not needed hahahaha and I haven't experienced any fluff.

They are absolutely lush and fabulously snug.

Regarding auto correct...... swift answer YES ....

I remember when we lived at home we all had those candy stripe flannelette sheets. I'm sure mum bought us some when we got married. Anyone remember them?

Yes, they are stored in the garage, used to cover furniture if we decorate.
Perhaps I should see if they've got paint on them!

☆☆☆☆ TEDDY BEAR BEDDING ALLLLL THE WAY ☆☆☆☆.

I bought some fleece (teddy) sheets for my grandchildren. From Asda, £12 each, available in a few colours - I bought 2 pink, 2 grey

I have 2 sets of good flannel bedding from the linen cupboard. Two are needed as drying naturally is difficult in winter. I like them very much, very comfy during the night

I have 2 sets of northern nights flannel from years ago. Patterned from qvc. They are thinner and I know they will bobble in time as I have had northern nights in the past.

I had fleece bedding once and took them to the charity shop pdq. Lovely to get into but got hotter and hotter in the night, no temperature regulation. Waste of money for me but I never felt guilty because I passed them on

Sainsbury's have their 'teddy' range in the sale, I've just bought a duvet cover and it is furry on the front, plain polyester on the back. Think I'll try it with a flat sheet tonight if I've got the energy!

Yes, they take ages to dry, and they shrink if you put them in the tumble drier. But they are very soft and cosy.

Thank you all for your comments. I shall be ordering a set of brushed cotton to see how I get on.

Forsythia Wed 26-Oct-22 16:37:45

Yes I remember those too and my aunts bought us several sets as wedding presents.

Prentice Wed 26-Oct-22 16:32:39

Yes I do Sharon and indeed I had some pink and white ones and also some multi colour ones. They were no doubt considered trendy at the time.

We have a set of the teddy bear sheets. Flannel suit us much better as my husband becomes too warm and semi sweaty. The flannel sheets absorb and the fleece sheets cause him to chill in his sweatiness (is that a word?).

I'm not sure about "vinaigrette" in this context grin

Razzamatazz Wed 26-Oct-22 10:44:53

Thank you for the teddy bedding tip, it seems many of you are enjoying them, I'll get a set and give them a try. I was put off by them being polyester.

I have just acquired fleece bedding! - quilt cover, fitted sheet, pillow cases - they are an absolute joy!! And they machine wash and then dry in a flash on a rack. They are like a big hug!

Lucky I bought these last winter they are fabulous aren't they ? I had to buy 2 sets as I didn't want to be without when one set was washed & drying I wouldn't be without them its like snuggling into a big teddy bear isn't it ?

I remember lots of fluff on the carpet when I had vinaigrette sheets years ago. Are the new type better? Can you recommend a brand/store please I hate getting on a cold bed.

Is the bed not a bit damp and smelly? ?

Razzmatazz, I have teddy bedding from Dunelm, Matalan, ASDA and Sainsburys. All good. I ordered some from Amazon, but they were rubbish so I sent them back.
Don’t believe any that say, “can be tumbled”.

Oh I used to love. these as a child.

And yes, I remember my mum saying they took ages to dry

Weirdly I now insist on Egyptian cotton which is cold to the touch. I can't cope with any other bedding

Prentice Tue 25-Oct-22 23:44:03

Dunelm sell them I think, the teddy sheets.
I bought pillowcases a few Winters ago, lovely.

Yes they are most cosy, in Winter only though.
I dry them flat over an airer then tumble dry to finish off.
