It's 4C in London - I'm trying to convince myself that an energetic trot would do me good!

I'm still slobbing around in my fleecy dressing gown but have high hopes I'll soon stagger up off the chair, without ageing noises, and get a move on smile👟👟

Then again... it's gloomy and cold!

Pretty chilly here in Berkshire. The forecast is for it to get even colder from tomorrow and still trying to use minimal heating so wearing lots of layers and sitting with a microwavable wheat bag round my neck! I need to go shopping later but I don't fancy being out for long.

It was bitterly cold on Saturday when my daughter did a local park run. I should have walked the course but stupidly stood around chatting to the volunteers and got colder than I've felt in years. Lesson learned - keep moving when outside! I went to encourage her as it was her first proper 5K run since breaking her ankle in May. I don't think I'll be doing that again until the Spring.

I'm in London and took my granddaughter to school today at 8 am. It honestly didn't feel too cold, even though we had to wait 10 minutes for the bus and I was only wearing a raincoat and a T-shirt. I didn't get hypothermia!

Quite a bright day here too, I have my sun awning out...

Kim19 Tue 06-Dec-22 12:35:06

Woke up to a thin covering of snow here in the North but some lovely sunshine is doing a good job of making it disappear.

It's a lovely sunny day in London sunshine but a bit nippy!

I've had a brisk walk with the sun on my face and a stroll around M&S and Waitrose.

I had an appointment at 10.15 with the Physio this morning. It's Cold, Wet and Windy - but I walked into town (35 minutes) and home again. I had to change my boots, tights and trousers, as each was wet through!
Just made lunch, as I have to do the same trip, this time to the Craft Group at the Library (and back). I'm taking my knitting, as my three cats tend to get involved with my several different colours of wool. Not raining right now, but there's no guarantee on the weather remaining fine!
Here's hoping!

Sunny here (SW London) - at the mo, anyway - temp outside the kitchen window is 7.4.
I shall take myself out for a walk soon - before it changes its mind.

It's chilly here in Surrey but the sun has been shining all day. This was the view outside my bedroom when I opened the curtains this morning.

Sunny, bright blue sky, 6° in Lancashire. Lovely for walking the dog. I think I’ll do her second walk whilst it’s still light and sunny.

TiggyW Tue 06-Dec-22 14:15:33

Sunny but cold here (also Lancashire). Shopping in Rawtenstall! 👍😎🎄🎅🏻

Lovely Sunny day here till got outside with my cat in her carrier to go to the Vets for her Boosters! So flipping cold I wanted to go back in 3 outside not much warmer inside as turned heating off earlier! Think I will stay warm with heating on then when I cant pay I can be taken to court, stuck in prison with food warmth etc without worrying about paying! Only problem how do I sneak my little cat in & all her prescription food? Guess I’ll just stay in bed with my little cat & wait till Spring gets here 🤣

Greenfinch Tue 06-Dec-22 14:29:32

Warmer than forecast here in Berkshire but set to become colder tomorrow. We will have to wrap up warm as we are taking the four youngest grandchildren to the light show at Wellington Country Park in the evening. It is the first year they have done it so should be interesting 🤨.

Reading this at 3.30 pm central European time, as I never receive the Gransnet e-mail before 1 pm. and I usually do not have time to read my mail before around now.

At quarter past eight this morning when I wheeled my bike out of the garage, it was 3 degrees, just about light, and thankfully a great deal drier than it has been for days.

It was overcast all morning, but that did not matter, as I was in charge of an event (indoors, praise be!) for kindergarten children and their teachers (13 bairns of 3 or 4 and three teachers) at the local museum.

The sun came out finally when I was cycling home just after one.

tht = the cat's comment on my having been out all morning. She is walking around on my keyboard - do what I will to stop her.

I joined a couple of friends for our regular sea swim at 7:30 this morning. It was bracing.

Bijou Tue 06-Dec-22 15:48:50

Being housebound the only fresh air I get is when I unlock the kitchen door in the morning. My husband and I used to go twelve mile hikes no matter what the weather.
Even though I don’t see anyone apart from my help for an hour each morning I still get properly dressed.

JenniferEccles Tue 06-Dec-22 15:56:06

Greenfinch the light show is fabulous according to my family who went recently. Well worth the money and the children (and adults!) were entranced.
I hope you enjoy it, despite the predicted drop in temperature from tonight.

I do hope people will be sensible and, those who haven’t, will put their heating on, and turn it up during the much publicised cold snap.
We have all had financial help towards our heating costs this winter, with those most in need receiving more.
This is not the time to continue to ‘brave it out’.

leeds22 Tue 06-Dec-22 16:08:09

Just been on a 4 mile walk in Swaledale - quite bracing.

ileea Tue 06-Dec-22 16:09:46

-10°C here this morning. Nor sure if I want to go anywhere today. But will get moving in a bit as Tuesdays I pick up my youngest granddaughter and take her to playtime. 🇨🇦

Greenfinch Tue 06-Dec-22 16:34:26

Thanks for that JenniferEccles. The little ones are very much looking forward to the train ride .

Very cold here in France too but no snow or rain. I went out with the dogs at 9am then shopping this afternoon. A walk round a small local lake with the dogs at 5pm.
I'm now settled in front of the fire with GN and a Baileys - lovely.

-19c here in the Prairies of Canada.

That really is cold!

JenniferEccles Tue 06-Dec-22 17:36:01

I’m sure they are Greenfinch!
If our family want to go next year we may go with them, as, like I said, from the pictures they sent me, it was stunning.
It’s great to hear weather reports from other countries.
-19c in Canada! Good gracious.
We’ve got nothing to complain about here have we?
