As a youngster I always liked the coffee creams that were included in many boxed selections. Over the years these seemed to be fazed out. Imagine my delight this morning, I had been gifted a small box of Black Magic by my lovely neighbour and to my delight there was coffee creams included in the selection.
What's your best or least favourite in a box of choccies?

Love a coffee cream or any coffee chocolate for that matter. Often treat myself in Hotel Chocolate these days

I generally like/love any chocolate - but I draw the line at coffee creams. I just can't understand why they've never tasted like any coffee I've ever had...

I also love the coffee creams but cannot enjoy the strawberry creams too sweet.

Truffles, pralines, fancy Belgian chocolates, I love them! Not so keen on cremes but I do like a good bitter orange. I have a nostalgic affection for the Quality Street golden penny too. My dear grandparents always had a large tin of QS on the sideboard all year and it was a real treat in those days to be allowed them! My Nana used to hoard the golden pennies for me as they were my favourite. They play havoc with my fillings now though unfortunately!

Not too keen on caramels. Fruit creams are okay, but I do like coffee, marzipan, truffles and Turkish delight. What spoils chocolates for me is the crunchy, sugar bits that are added to many, particularly mints.

I used to like the orange creams and the coffee ones. When I was young I detested marzipan and the almond nut ones but now I quite like them. I still don’t eat the marzipan on top of cakes, nasty stuff.

I quite like coffee creams but am not keen on the fruity creams as they are too sickly sweet. I hate very dark chocolate and nuts, especially peanuts.

The green triangles are a favourite.

I never buy those big containers of chocolates (because there's only me), though in the supermarket last week an assistant approached me with a box of Cadburys Heroes and said 'Happy Christmas, these are with our compliments'. I was very surprised to be given them - after all you don't get 'summat for nowt' but thank you very much. They were delicious.

Yes i never used to drink coffee but i liked the coffee creams! (Now i like coffee too)

Hattiehelga Mon 26-Dec-22 11:45:23

Coffee creams - wow! The very best were Cadbury but they were phased out years ago. Best ones now are Thorntons but only at Amazon. Don't all rush and buy them out please ! I had two bags yesterday and have already had a dabble.

When I was teaching we used to take in the chocs no one ate on the first day back and put them in a communal tin in the staff room. Guaranteed they had all gone by the end of the first week!

A friend at work would bring in all the soft centres, as her family only liked the hard toffees. Bliss, and they disappeared in no time!

SueDoku Mon 26-Dec-22 11:50:26

I like soft centres and my friend likes toffees and other hard centres - whenever we have a box of Roses, Quality Street etc, we eat our favourites - and then swap...
Delight all round, and no left-over chocs thrown away..! 😀

Coffee creams are my least favourite, also strawberry, which is really sickly. Favourites are orange cream, coconut, Turkish delight, and will eat most of the others. My favourite orange cream of all time is the one in black magic, but black magic are crap nowadays, hardly any selection. My second favourite in Black Magic was toffee and mallow, which they don’t have any more. I prefer dark chocolate creams than milk chocolate which can be too sickly.

Orange, strawberry or cherry cream - yummy. My sister got some chocolates as a present when she was about 10. She'd left the ones she wasn't keen on in the box on the window sill in our shared bedroom. I was about 16 and she was asleep in bed when I went up to go to bed. As I was getting ready for bed, she suddenly sat bolt upright, eyes still shut , and reached round to locate the two chocolates she'd left in the box. She quickly gobbled them up and lay down again. I said "Karen, Karen -are you awake". No response. When I told her the next morning that she'd eaten the chocolates she didn't like, she didn't believe me at first, then uttered an emphatic "yeuch" at the thought! Still tease her about it. 🤣

Love coffe creams and black magic!

pamdixon Mon 26-Dec-22 12:08:31

I'd forgotten about coffee creams. I don't think I've had one for years. I hate coffee normally (to drink that is) but goodness I used to love coffee creams. Might try and see if I can buy some when the Christmas chocolate mountain has disappeared from our house. Surely the best chocolates in the world are Bendicks Bitter Mints . I remember when you used to be able to buy them buy the yard - think we always had them at Christmas time when i was little!

Irismarle Mon 26-Dec-22 12:13:13

I didn’t know Black Magic still existed- I must search. I also remember toffee and mallow being delicious. However, although I don’t like fruit creams as a rule, I loved their orange cream because of the contrast with the dark chocolate. I remember I even liked the shape - a long slim triangle. Does anyone remember when Fry’s did a a chocolate cream bar matching their traditional dark choc with white fondant centre, but with different fruit creams in the one bar. The lime cream was gorgeous. This was back in the 60s and I don’t think it lasted long, sadly. Probably expensive to produce.

Gwenisgreat1 Mon 26-Dec-22 12:15:50

I'm very happy with those with most chocolate in them, or Turkish delight which my DG Hates!

Penelopebee Mon 26-Dec-22 12:21:19

My teeth can't cope with toffee, but I love it. But strangely not caramel ones. But send ANYTHING else you don't like to me! 😜😜😜

Romola Mon 26-Dec-22 12:31:39

I like them all but I'm sorry that Cadbury's Roses are no longer wrapped in the twist papers . We used to make a garland out of them around the TV.

Sooze58 Mon 26-Dec-22 12:33:35

Black magic coffee creams are the best!

Lynn1959 Mon 26-Dec-22 12:36:18

Anything chocolate except Turkish delight ugh!

Suzique Mon 26-Dec-22 12:37:45

I agree with you Sardinia202, I love anything with nuts, but can’t stand the squidgy ones, even coffee. Luckily DH will eat any chocolates!

HannahLoisLuke Mon 26-Dec-22 12:46:47

I adore coffee chocolates but you’re right they’re hardly ever included nowadays. Thornton’s still do them, another reason they’re my favourite brand and if you have a shop nearby you can buy individual flavours by the bag.

Battersea1971 Mon 26-Dec-22 12:50:32

I like all of them particularly coffee creams. 2nd favourites are turkish delight and fudge.
