Best cordless vacuum cleaner?

I took it completely to pieces, brushed the filter, and even scrubbed out the head with a damp brush and toothbrush , letting it dry out completely before putting it back together.
🤞 it has not done it since.

I have never heard of these. Not sure if it is going to be worth repairing actually.

But worth a try when it’s free, surely? We had ours brought back to life and it’s at least 10 years old.

I just wish I knew what was wrong with it and if it is repairable, but the nearest repair cafe meets only monthly and I cant wait that long. My carpets are dirty!but I just think it must be life expired. I have taken it apart, checked for blockages, removed cottons and stringy bits, cleaned the filters, but I cannot get into the cleaning head( brushes look very worn). It charges well, so I reckon it must be something electronic. It either does not start at all, or more usually, starts then packs up after about a minute. It is out of warranty, being five and a half years old. Battery had only a two year warranty but seems fine still.

You need a 10p coin and some patience!

Mine is an old model, though, the newer ones are more tricky, I think.

I've a Dyson cordless V10. While I do like it, no one seems to mention the filters. They need regular washing under the tap and drying for 24 hours when you can't use it. Unless you have a spare and they are £35 from Dyson. You can get fakes from Amazon which I now have as they don't last long.

My Shark is now six years old, so is out of guarantee, and playing up, time to replace?
Any recommendations please?
Must be lightweight, easy to carry.

We have a mixture of hard floors and carpet.
If I get another Shark, I am hoping existing my tools will fit.

My animal dyson V10. I’m happy with it. I have a spaniel abd a yellow lab. Labs shed twice a year, October - May and May-October. I’ve wooden floors and rugs downstairs, carpets on stairs and bedrooms. I use it downstairs at least once a day.
I can do the house on one charge. The only downside is occasionally, labrador fur clogs it, so I need to sort that, 3 mins of a job. The filter needs washing but dries overnight.
It’s a good job I’m fond of the awful lab

I thought of your yellow lab and our, no longer with us two and how much easier it may have been vacuuming yellow hairs all over the house with this anti hair wrap model I now have.

These days it’s my own hair which I seem to be shedding quite a bit, clogging up the vacuum and the reason I bought the shark.

Kalu, which shark did you buy. I’ve just finished tidying and putting shopping away. I looked at the karndean floor and despite cleaning it yesterday evening - it’s got a film of fine yellow hair everywhere plus clusters in the corner 😵‍💫🐕

Have you contacted the manufacturer?

I don't know how good Shark customer service is, but the on/off switch on my elderly GTech failed recently. Customer service were very helpful. I've had to replace the 'body' of the machine, but all the removeable parts were transferable (roller brush, battery, handles etc) and it cost me far less than any new machine would have done. Maybe Shark has the same sort of service.

Oh the joy of having labs but if it were possible, I would have another one in a heartbeat 💓

OP could search on YouTube. I have repaired several items following step by step videos.

I have a Dyson Animal which is really good, but, as has been said before, it is heavy. I couldn’t manage it after an accident so bought a Shark. It is almost a pleasure cleaning the stairs as it can be converted to a small handheld machine rather than having to carry the whole machine up and down the stairs. I don’t have to stop halfway to pull out the plug, carry the lead downstairs and plug it back in there either. The Shark came with two batteries too so I don’t need to worry about waiting for one to recharge.

Tweedle - my Dyson is very light and cordless. I can’t carry heavy things now

#Iam64* I have had my Dyson some years now, bought before they started producing the cordless versions. I have no objection to Dyson: I think this is my fourth. I only bought the Shark because I had broken my arm and shoulder and damaged my back. I needed something lighter with no trailing flexes. That seemed to be the lightest when I investigated. That is all.

I have an animal Dyson, I've had it for 6 years, it does a great job.

My Dyson used to pulse. You need to wash the filter, leave it out to dry. Then pulsing should stop. You can watch a YouTube video on it.

Having tried everything I could to find the fault, I bought a new Shark cordless from my local electrical shop. Excellent customer service including free delivery. The battery is now charged and I am about to try it out. It seems more robust but a bit heavier than the old one.
