What do you think about this decision? I’m in agreement with it and think the decision is the right one but always take on board other people’s’ views.

The U.K. courts have accepted that she was groomed and trafficked.

The U.K. courts have accepted that she was groomed and trafficked.

Fair enough.

Yet they still think she is far too dangerous to return to U.K. ?

Smileless2012 Wed 22-Feb-23 13:50:25

So there must be information we are unaware of that there decision was based upon.

Smileless2012 Wed 22-Feb-23 13:50:37

their not there

Whitewavemark2 Wed 22-Feb-23 13:50:53

No the Home Office made that decision. Our friend Braverman.

I will trust those who know more about Shamima than we do. They are looking after the British public and must believe she will bring danger to the UK.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 22-Feb-23 13:54:27

She is the UKs responsibility. The principle of depriving a British citizen of citizenship is not one I favour quite frankly.

Sajid Javid was the HS who took away SB’s citizenship and at the time stated that if you knew what I know you would do the same

We do not know what the Home Office/Judiciary knows.

Whilst I agree that she is our responsibility, I have to accept that the powers that be have information which has determined their decision.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 22-Feb-23 14:01:14

Braverman has turned down her appeal.

Might as well end our conversation now really as we won’t agree that’s for sure🙂.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 22-Feb-23 14:03:17

The court has turned down her appeal, not the HS.

Twotontessy Wed 22-Feb-23 14:09:39

Best news I’ve heard today. I hope she never comes back.

The court has turned down her appeal, not the HS.

This is what I understood.

The court has turned down her appeal, not the HS.

The appeal was turned down because “the court recognised that it had no power to go against the HO decision”

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 22-Feb-23 15:49:05

The court found that the HS had acted lawfully. She can only appeal on a point of law.

Luckygirl3 Wed 22-Feb-23 16:01:02

I suspect that her danger to the UK lies in her contacts and those who might wish to contact and influence her. I do think she was groomed and she was indeed a child at the time, but the bottom line is that the government and the courts have to use the information they have before them now to assess her level of risk to the public.

Looking at this young woman whose life has been so twisted by evil people, the tendency to feel sorry for her and sad for how things have turned out for her is great. But in the end the courts have to be dispassionate and make their decisions based on fact.

Fleurpepper Wed 22-Feb-23 16:03:48

The point being, that she is probably much more likely to be further influenced to do harm if her application is refused, and if she is out of sight.

Sorry I trust the Judiciary and the Security Services both of which have more information than the general public.

She was appealing against the decision of the then Home Secretary, Sajid Javid.
Braverman was not involved in this decision making.

The appeal was brought on the grounds that his action was unlawful. The appeal was turned down by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission which is independent of government.

That's a hypothesis and SIAC deals in facts.

Had she been one of the girls groomed and assaulted by mainly Asian gangs, no one would have queried that she was a victim.

I don’t see any sign that she is ‘intelligent’ and I cannot understand why this girl-child, who also was groomed/radicalised, should suffer for a decision made as a 15-year old.

Shame on us.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 22-Feb-23 16:32:19

You are entitled to your views Quokka. I’m glad the court didn’t share them.

By contrast I couldn’t care less about your ‘views’.

There will be valid reasons why Shamima's application has been refused. We don't know what they are and nor should we.
