Remaining anonymous?

I have been to quite a few different meet ups and in none has anyone remained anonymous . The first thing we do is share our first names( no need for surnames). It would seem strange to retain our GN names. I have had a couple of funny experiences when meeting with people I don’t already know. I asked some bemused lady if she wasAuntieflo and someone else if she was Hazbeen. Does anyone know if the latter is still on GN? I haven’t heard of her lately.

Just curious, I haven't taken advantage of any meet ups but I am curious as to whether those who do remain anonymous? Using their GN name rather than revealing their real name . do some people wish to keep their identity to themselves?
