Has anyone helped with driving lessons? They are so expensive these days. Living in a rural community and with hardly any public transport , driving is essential to drive to work /to a job /to catch a train or bus link ... I am thinking about putting money in a special fund, for either driving lessons in the future - or something else.

I paid for driving lessons for my grandson a few years ago. He was naughty in that he spent the money on other things. He was 17.

I sent the money direct to the driving school. He had his lessons and passed. I was thrilled.

Yes, I absolutely did. Driving lessons have certainly changed since I went to school. First of all you learned classroom driver's ed at the school, and then you paid for behind the wheel (a minimal amount) directly given as part of the high school sponsored Driver's ed. My granddaughter did the in-classroom but then had to pay a "private" (recommended from the school) on the road driver's company. Ridiculous and a ridiculous price to pay. So much more complicated. Oops sorry ranting. Yes, I absolutely did pay for her driver's education. To me it was as essential as helping with their college tuition. You need to be able to drive if you live in a small town like they do.

We did think about it, but as they never ever say thank you for anything we decided no.

surely you must do what you would like and can afford to do.
