I'm looking for good quality medium firmness pillows that last for more than a couple of months.
Any suggestions please?

I have bought hybrid pillows from Martian dreams and love them . I couldn’t find anything that felt comfortable but this one is great.
You can adjust the the filling to suit your comfort needs. check them out online and see what you think.

Organic Buckwheat husk pillows for us! So comfortable! They come in a zipped cotton cover, so you can adjust the amount of filling to suit. They’re cool in summer. We bought them from Razzmatazz (Perfect Pillows). They do different sizes, including travel pillows and they last for years.

I hated those buckwheat pillows, hard under the head and they crunch all night. I would definitely not recommend those

I wonder if yours were too tightly packed karmalady? Ours are great and keep your head cool in hot weather!

John lewis, ultimate collection goose down medium firm with 5 year guarantee. I returned one as the filling went flat, I was reimbursed and bought another one

They are good pillows but not good enough, I am a side sleeper, however they were very expensive so I have put them into woolroom wool pillow covers and they are now perfect for me.

Dunlop latex pillows were always the best for me for comfort and I was upset when they were discontinued. I am glad an alternative is available. You can get two of those for the price of one down pillow

A good pillow test is to put the pillow over your forearm, it should not droop

My pillows were ordered from Next approximately six years ago and are still as comfortable as ever. Next has a huge variety of pillows and I can't remember what mine were. They weren't the most expensive or the cheapest. I recommend having a look at these.

Pillows are very subjective.

In our holiday let we have had a number of people ask where our pillows are from.
We have also had people complain they are too firm.

I always think of you are so particular just bring your own!

However this is the company I use for bedding and towels, the quality is excellent.

There are decent pillows on Amazon. Many state that they are for stomach, back, or side sleepers. The prices do vary. I fancy memory foam but have not decided.

I was struggling to find pillows that were comfortable until I spent a few days at a hotel where I found the perfect combination. A Mitre Ultraloft pillow with a BounceBack one on top. Fortunately they do sell to the general public so I ordered some and they’re not expensive. The Ultraloft has worn well but not the BounceBack which doesn’t, but given the cost I’m not surprised. Ive replaced it with a Dorma.

A few months ago I bought this one from ebay "Memory Foam Large Soft Pillow Bounce Back Firm Deluxe memory foam Pillows UK" currently £22.99 - it's got rid of my neck ache, I find it quite firm & very comfy sleeping on both my back and sides. It has a removable cover. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304736715445

I have been struggling for a few years after my favourite pillow died a death most sad! I tried a quite expensive one from John Lewis, but just couldn't get comfortable. At a building and renovation show I spied a stall selling silk pillows, they were reduced to £40 - I foundd my dream pillow. I love it so much I bought 3 silk pillows for my daughters and my SIL (he loves it and says he has not slept as well for a long time!

My pillow, washable and so comfortable.

We’ve gone around in circles buying new pillows. I’m sure it’s an age thing as we used to be able to sleep on any mattress/pillows. The problem is we can all say which ones work for us but everyone is different and what suits one person doesn’t suit another.

I would like to buy new Pillows but how should I dispose of current ones. I wouldn't take them to charity shops, nor do I want to send them to landfill. I can't think of any way to recycle them. A quandary.

If you wash and tumble dry them first, I imagine any shelter for the homeless will be pleased to have your old pillows, duvets or blankets.

Do your sofa cushions need a plump up? We unzipped ours and added our feather pillows to the existing ones.
What a difference!

The last pillows I bought were www.kingofcotton.com/microfibre-cotton-down-feel-pillow
They're firmer and thicker than the M&S and John Lewis that I've had in the past but I thought I'd give these a try and they're great provided you don't want a soft pillow. I've had them for two years and they're good as new.
Personally I like a firmly stuffed down pillow but they are so expensive now that I doubt I'll buy another.

Musicgirl Thu 11-Jan-24 14:47:35

Another vote for M and S. I replace them every two or three years and I am afraid l put the old ones in the dustbin. I have tried washing them in the past but have had no success so far. I cannot have feather pillows as I am allergic to them.

Stillstanding Thu 11-Jan-24 14:40:21

I have wool pillows after they were recommended by an Australian lodger. But mine are made with British wool. I also have silk pillows. Often I sleep with a silk pillow over a wool pillow. My neck creaks much less these days.

I’ve just seen that Dunlopillow are making latex pillows again after reading the previous poster’s post - I’m very pleased and hope they’re like they used to be - they are the best.

Juliet27 Thu 11-Jan-24 14:20:12

As icanhandthemback says ‘I think to get the right pillow, you need to work out exactly what you want based on the type of sleeper you are’
I don’t sleep well unless it’s on the thin pillow I’ve had for ages. It goes in the washing machine every couple of months (so hopefully the horrors 123kitty mentioned are dispensed with) and it keeps its shape. As it’s thin I packed it in my suitcase when I took a trip to the other side of the world. Jetlag ruins the usual sleep pattern but it was still the perfect pillow for me rather than thicker hotel ones.

longpinknails Thu 11-Jan-24 14:17:17

I always have a latex pillow and have done for nearly 49 years now since I was in my teens. Each one has lasted for years - I used to swear by Dunlopillow until they were no more and my latest is by Healthbeds. They’re not cheap and they are an acquired taste for some - but they do last.

4allweknow Thu 11-Jan-24 14:16:02

Dunlopillow Latex . I have used these for years. They can be washed easily on a gentle cycle or by hand but definitely need a spin to finish. They aren't the cheapest but last for ages, keep their shape with no lumps or dents. Also they seem to stay at a cool level in use.

Skydancer Thu 11-Jan-24 14:05:01

I've just bought some that can be washed in the washing machine and they are very nice.

I have recently splashed out for a "purple Harmony Grid Hex". And yes, they are very very expensive, but it is the first time ever I have been comfortable with a pillow.
It's springy and has no indentation where my head rests every day, it just springs right back up again.
I've had it 4 month now and it's been a blessing. I expect it to last me for years.
Only downside is the steep price but I got one in an auction for a fraction of the price.
