Hi my mother is 93 and still living independently and cooking her own meals. Her eyesight is failing and she has left the gas turned on, on the hob a couple of times. I’m just wondering if any of you have any suggestions for an alternative way of making her meals, preferably using an electric cooker/device. She has a slow cooker that she uses but struggles with the microwave . Many thanks (in advance ) for your help.

Oakhouse may have more options, possibly.
My mum enjoyed their food more because it was pasta based, often, and she found that worked better than a dinner with veg and roasties and that kind of thing.

For some reason that makes me think they cater to vegetarian/vegan tastes more, though where the logic is in that, I've no idea.

My Dad had Wiltshire foods for about 7 years and loved them they always looked really nice and tasty Then when he couldn’t see the microwave dials very well he changed to a local cook and deliver hot meals and he loved them too

I had Wilshire foods for a while, and they were fine.
Some strange mixtures of dinners sometimes, but all ok.

i think Parsley Box have vegetarian options.

Is parsley box the one that supplies meals that don't need to be frozen?

I think if I was only going for vegetarian food I'd order from all the companies, all their veggie options.

yes, you can store them in the box they come in.

annodomini - do you like curries?
I recently found this company and have had vegetarian dishes from them and thought they were good.
I sent a vegan box to my daughter and she had a curry night with friends who thought they were "restaurant quality" but less oily.

I have had some good vegetarian and vegan foods from cook too... I like their tagine. My mother-in-law likes Cook too but halves some dishes. She especially likes their Coc au vin - though obviously that's not vegetarian.

Both these companies do frozen foods by the way. Both don't use additives.

MissAdventure I worked in homecare years ago, and one of my calls was to collect a plated meal from the local pub and take it to the lady's house 😋
