WI Memberships (?)

I thought I’d like to join a local WI group after my SIL told me about hers . However when I contacted my local one ( approx 3/4months ago ) they were sadly in the process of closing & the administrator emailed me to say she had emailed another local branch where members were going to & who would contact me .
Well that never happened , I emailed myself no response , so I tried another one on the next Village , you’ve guessed still no response .
Yes , I have checked my spam .
Also I realise that I can go to a meeting 📅 just turn up but I’m thinking that if they can’t be bothered to respond , not just to my email but to a WI members request am I going to be made to feel welcome & are these the sort of people that are too busy to bother ?
I have previously joined U3A but find their classes etc are so booked up it neigh on impossible to get to attend anything apart from something I’m not interested in .

Excellent *NanaTuesday’. I tried one or two WIs till I found the one I wanted. I think you can try 3 times at each WI before you decide if it is for you.

Thank you for that info , I’ll keep trying

Hi , I have found NWR online & it looks like something I would like to get invited in.
I have completed the online application form & am keen to try the free sessions but I need to make DD or Card payment prior to being able to access . While I have no problem paying for a membership I am not keen on paying a fee for something before I experience & know if I will enjoy (?) , it’s £32 .
Your thoughts on this would help,, thanks 🙏

I am local organiser of our NWR and we do not charge anyone until they have been to their free sessions and decided to join. As I have said before it is much less formal than WI. I have just looked at the form and it does ask for payment details which surprised me. I will email them and ask why.

Thank you, much appreciated.🙏

Will admit I have not read all of the replies. Re U3a membership- are there any other U3a's within reach? Near me my local one tends to use meeting rooms so that there is very rarely restriction on how many members can attend a meeting.
Another large one less than 10 miles away has a waiting list for most groups. Other smaller ones nearby have vacancies in many groups. I am lucky in that there are 6 different U3a's within 10 miles. Maybe look slightly further afield and you may find that there are spaces in groups not too far away. No need to pay full membership fee to a second U3a as part of fee is for National U3a.

This is interesting.. I too emailed my local area WI for info and got nothing back, so gave up.
Have been recommended U3A, but got the impression it was individual little "clubs" I'm not sure what I would like to do?

Oh Snap

Oh, ok thanks for that I will certainly look around at outlying Towns ,good idea . In fact that is what I was doing with WI but in same area ie same Town .
