Cataract surgery referal

Hi
I went to the opticians last week and the guy said my cataracts should be removed and he can make a referal
He typed loads of stuff on his computer screen ,i had the OCT scan and then had another thing which was eye drops to open up my pupils and then was put on a machine again to look again
After all this was done i was told i would be referred for cataract surgery and he said i would need to phone up and choose the clinic i wanted to go to and i could consider a one close to home or one or one with the shortest time waiting list.This would be discussed when i phone up.My question is will i get a letter with the phone number i need to call.The optician didn’t say what the number is or if i would get a letter.Any advice helpful.What was your journey like

15 month waiting list where I live in Scotland. Gave up and went private. Also, if you need two eyes done, you wait 15 months have one done then join the waiting list again for the other. I dread to think how long the list would be without all the folk going private.

Had both mine done over the winter. Can drive again but still need glasses for reading. Also, still suffering with glare and just started PVD in one eye but the eye surgeon is keeping a close look at the situation and I must go back in six weeks. Just trying not to do too much bungy jumping in the meantime! Sorry, joke!
