Considering a move...

Hello Deb, I'm hoping someone will be along who can offer specific advice.
But as a general rue, it is often suggested that you rent in an area for a few months to get to know it better.
Some let out their own home to finance that. Some sell, put the money in the bank, and move around to find somewhere that suits.
I have had friends who have done both. Ironically the last one rejected Devon after 6 months living there (it was a remote rural part, I knew it wouldn't suit her).
In the meantime you can try short holidays in places you might fancy - look at the newspapers and notice boards, sign up to FB groups etc.

My daughter (now in her late 40s) loves Exeter since going to Exeter University back in the day. She has made a home there ever since and has brought up her children there.

But you have to bear in mind that it's a university city so there will be a lot of young people and activities for them.

Whenever I've visited I've thought what a nice city it is, and the surrounding countryside is beautiful and not that far from the sea.

Thanks for that Sparklefizz , I'm fine with that - I lived in Bath for 8 years where there were 2 Unis, and that wasn't a problem for me
