Just that really.

I get really cold feet, need quite a bit of support and I am not too keen on backless as I worry about falling downstairs.

Please don't suggest granny slippers as I am only 75 so nowhere near old enough for those.

What about the slippers that look like Ugg boots kitty. I bought my daughter a pair of spotty ones from Moshulu.

Casdon Thu 22-Aug-24 19:28:03

I’ve just bought some sheepskin ones from Celtic&Co which are lovely, they cover your whole foot and have proper soles. There was a huge choice of colours.

Kitty I wear Haflingers clogs, with arch support. They are very well fitting and safe to wear. Other styles are available by this maker. I've been wearing their indoor shoes/slippers for around 16 years. My daughter wears them too. I'm several years older than you and don't feel concerned about falling whilst wearing this type of footwear. They are on the expensive side, but worth the money.

Hotter do some nice ones. (They also do some horrid ones!)

I’ve got those Beechnut but they’re looking a bit tatty now. I’ve just bought some pink velvety slippers from M&S in a sort of loafer style. Hard soles, so I can go outside and just £17.50, but I’ll get a warmer boot style pair for winter.

Like Casdon I have sheepskin slipper boots from Celtic and Co, they are very cosy. They do a range of sheepskin slippers. Expensive but they last forever.

My feet are always frozen so I wear sheepskin, favourite make is Drapers. There are lots of good sheepskin ones though.

I have Raynauds, so cold feet, M&S suede moccasin slippers are fine for me, £25, if it’s really cold I use Hothands foot warmers. The slippers are comfortable, have a back and proper soles for a walk to the bin.

Moshulu for me, in bright colours.

Drapers of Glastonbury. Not cheap but real sheepskin that keeps your feet warm as toast. They will last a good year or more. Also they are made in Somerset so you are helping a British company.

Sheepskin ones are cosy and a good pair lasts years.
These are our favourites:

I have these from Westmorland Sheepskins, called Cadi. Have a hard sole and a back which I regard as essential. Have been lovely and warm all winter.

Homeys! Cannot recommend too highly! Not the cheapest, but super warm, super comfy. With a sole that's good enough to take the recycling out or bring the logs in. So good that my son, my daughter and their partners are converts, too. homeys.co.uk/

I use Skechers lightweight shoes (Reggae Fest for me). There are various easy on/off styles, so can go in and out without changing. But if your floors are cold they might not be enough.

Yes I agree - the German wool slippers like these and Gieswein are expensive but well worth it as they are warm, and breathable so you can wear them in summer with bare feet. They also often have support insoles, although you can use your own - I think these are important if you are mainly wearing slippers all day.

Flyflot. A bit pricey but the most comfortable I have ever owned!

Moshulu, comfy and long lasting 😊

Grandma2002 Sun 25-Aug-24 12:37:15

Rather expensive recommendations I thought. I had a pair of Hotter lightweight casual shoes which I now use as slippers, safe for going up and down stairs and good for walking around the house. Because they have proper soles I can go into the garden. In the winter I wear a pair of socks with them.

If you can afford them Celtic do a boot slipper, cosy and supportive. They will last for many years, the plus is that you can pop out into the garden if needs must as the sole is reaky sturdy.

Slightly off-track but hubby now has very swollen feet/ankles, despite medication to reduce it. He naturally has a very high instep too. He's always struggled to find shoes on the High Street and often resorts to cheap makes just to get something to wear.

Any suggestions of slippers for him? They need to have good soles cos he drags his feet a lot.

I bought these from Amazon recently for £19.99, cozy and comfortable & to my mind not too frumpy either (I’m 68)

My Celtic and Co slippers split at the back after about 20 months.Bearing in mind I didn't wear them much in the summer months when warm.I emailed them to say I was disappointed and got nowhere.I was unimpressed as my last pair of sheepskin slipers from a good shoe shop -sadly not closed -lasted about 15 years .I will look for a different make soon.

I love my Dr Brinkmann slippers. On a visit to Poland 8 years ago I discovered the brand and purchased them. Our kids called them hatch backs when they were younger because they are open back, they are pricey but 8 years and still going strong wearing them every day.
