I need new slippers - recommendations please.

My Celtic and Co slippers split at the back after about 20 months.Bearing in mind I didn't wear them much in the summer months when warm.I emailed them to say I was disappointed and got nowhere.I was unimpressed as my last pair of sheepskin slipers from a good shoe shop -sadly not closed -lasted about 15 years .I will look for a different make soon.

Just that really.

I get really cold feet, need quite a bit of support and I am not too keen on backless as I worry about falling downstairs.

Please don't suggest granny slippers as I am only 75 so nowhere near old enough for those.

I always buy the Ugg Boot type of slipper, they are not the real Uggs as I won't pay that price, but the ones I buy are from Hotter or Skechers when they have a sale and they last me for ages.

I bought a pair from Hotter last winter and they ticked every box. I have balance issues and the sole was important. Very warm. Backless but that suited me and felt very safe wearing them. Can't remember the name of the style, but they are boiled wool with butterfly cut out. I have them in grey. Best ever.

Vera cosy are like the name suggests cosy warm and reasonably priced

I would not recommend the Ug boot type. I had a pair and , on first wearing, slipped and fell down stairs.

Definitely sheepskin boot type. I have been very disciplined with mine by taking them off and putting on shoes every time I go out to the garden or garage. Consequently this will be the third winter for this particular pair and I may get yet another year from them. Expensive yes but you get what you pay for.

Oh Kitty, I have some lovely Pavers ones with bobbles all over them. I’m worried they are “granny slippers” now!
I find them warm, non slip and they don’t stretch and get baggy.

I've also got the Pavers ones with fluffy polka dots all over, vickymeldrew. They are great, and I like the firm soles so I can pop outside wearing them.

I really fancy some crocs 🙈

I always buy Moshulu, but have a pair of cosy Winter bootees from Fat Face. However, I never wear slippers when walking up and down the stairs, much safer in bare feet or socks.

I have a fleecy lined pair of Crocs, so warm and grip well too. Can't wait for the colder weather so I can get them out again!

Slightly off-track but hubby now has very swollen feet/ankles, despite medication to reduce it. He naturally has a very high instep too. He's always struggled to find shoes on the High Street and often resorts to cheap makes just to get something to wear.

Any suggestions of slippers for him? They need to have good soles cos he drags his feet a lot.

Madmeg I bought 'Cosy' slippers for my Dad when he was ill and his feet were swollen. They are slightly oversized and kept his feet warm when we couldn't find anything else.

Ooh, I like those! I've got a wonderful pair of leopard print boot type slippers which my DiL gave me for xmas about three years ago. I like boot-type slippers with good sturdy soles. They are so comfy, but they're on their last legs now, so I've just treated myself to a new pair of lovely purple ones!

I have moccasin type ones too, I chose some without a furry lining as I always think that they get a bit niffy.
Moshulu have some nice bright coloured ones, some are expensive but there's usually a discount code and they have great sales. My husband liked mine so much that he got some in a more subtle colour for himself.

On GranJan’s recommendation I treated myself to a pair of these wool slippers, fancy Austrian ones. Oh my I can’t thank you enough, my feet are in heaven.

Are there any kinds of slippers ok for an older person?
I thought they were a no no.
