Long hair and swimming hats

I’m shortly to go to Centre Parcs with my son and his family.

It will be our first holiday together and I very much want to spend quality time with the GC.

They very much love to swim which was why we picked Centre Parcs. Now I do swim but find it such a faff as I have longish thick frizzy hair which I keep under control and looking good with various products.

However, even wearing a standard swimming cap leaves my hair ending up frizzy and wet on the sides.

I really don’t want to be washing my hair every day of the holiday as it takes ages to get looking good ( at least an hour plus) I want to be out having fun with the kids.

Does anyone have any suggestions for anything I can do/you do/head wear, to avoid having to wash your hair after swimming as this is likely to be a daily event. Thankyou

Get a nice short style before you go.

No, short doesn’t suit me sadly and I love it long (we’ll just below shoulder length)

Could you buy a couple of those stylish, wide headbands to match your outfits?

Or even tie it up with a silk scarf?

Lots of other outlets available.

Put conditioner on your hair, underneath a cap, I suppose?

I feel your pain. I too like to wear my hair longish.

It is a problem that I have grappled with for years, the best solution I found was a very high ponytail topped with two swimming caps (one thin and stretchy, the other thicker)

Even this arrangement was not perfect as water still seeped in round the sides and my hair looked squashed. Sometimes I go in but try and keep me head out of water and also try to avoid being splashed. I do my rather sedate version of breaststroke with my head well above the water.

Not ideal, I know but it may give you some food for thought.

If your hair is long enough to tie back, could you tie it in a pony tail after swimming and sort it out later, say before your evening meal?

Having been to Centre Parc’s many times I wouldn’t recommend a swimming hat in the swimming dome, as it is ridiculously hot and humid. You would probably be the only one wearing one.

The long curly haired members of my family just washed hair left in conditioner and tied it up.

Oops, also it is not a dressy up place.

It is totally informal, casual clothes in all restaurants and bars.

Have a look at BUBBLE swimming caps on ebay. Very easy to put on and off. I have a lot of hair that I like to keep as dry as possible. I put an elastic band over my head then pull as much hair as possible into the cap. Result - just a little wet neck line hair easily blown back to order.
Must say, I swim sedately and never under water!

No one is going to notice your hair - tie it up on top of your head. They have driers etc in the changing room. Take a hair and or baseball cap to wear whilst on your bike.Treat yourself to a session in the adults only spa while you are there.

You’re not going to keep your hair dry in the waves, the lazy river or the flume thingys

I meant hairband in previous post!

I think if you're going to be worrying about trying to keep your hair dry all the time, you're not going to be having much fun with the children 🫤
I think it will need washing after the water fun and before dinner, but I'd suggest trying to find a different way to wear it that doesn't take an hour to style.
As it's a decent length could you simply tame it with your usual products and wear it in a low ponytail?
With some makeup and nice earrings on show you'd look perfectly acceptable for the evening 😊

I do my rather sedate version of breaststroke with my head well above the water.

Indigo8 you and me both, though in my case it's because I need to wear my glasses 🤣
What my sister calls a "dry fringe swimmer."
Not a look that's really suited to the sort of water activity Alltogethernow is looking forward to 😁

Even humidity can make your hair go haywire if it's so inclined.

Personally, I'd rinse or wash it after going in the pool, use conditioner then tie it up or use a wide hair band.

I wouldn’t worry about it, you’re with family, it’s an informal place, as others have suggested, tie it up or a bandana. Enjoy the break and have fun.
