Accommodation with wet room in Edinburgh

I booked air b&b in Edinurgh a few years ago.

Accommodation close to Waverley is expensive and the older properties around there have lots of floors.

Hotels typically don't have wet rooms.

I hope you do find something suitable but it may take time, and a lot of money.

I can understand you wanting a wet room but to be honest for two nights surely you can manage with a wash down.
I think you might be hard found to get an airB&B or even hotel with a wet room
Have you tried asking through one of the charities for disabled or even AgeUk they might have lists for suitable lets

I ve never stayed in a Premier or Travelodge with disabled facilities or a wet room JaxJacky not saying they haven’t though, worth an ask

The Ibis hotel on South Bridge, not far from Waverley Station, has disabled access rooms. Or there's Market Street Hotel or Apex Waterloo Place, again not far from the staiton.

Lots of hills to negotiate to get to and from the station.

Premier Inn lead the way with accessible rooms, their newer builds offer the best facilities and they are improving all the time. They have a programme of further improvements for all their new builds.

I asked for an accessible Premier Inn room, as I had difficulty getting out of a bath. The room I got was amazing, shower, bars and handles everywhere. It really is a great hotel chain.

I was going to suggest this hotel. We stayed there. It was very comfortable (there’s a restaurant if you don’t feel like going out in the evening) and very close to the station. Convenient for the Royal Mile and the Museums.

As previously stated - steep hills and steps all round. Taxis not likely to appreciate such short trips. Central Edinburgh not ideal for wheelchair travellers.

I stay in Premier inns because they have accessible rooms for walking and wheelchair disabled. Low beds large shower room with seat with legs at the front bolted to the wall. Rails round the toilet . Twin beds which can be joined together if you want it as a double just phone the hotel and they will make sure they are hooked together. I am on my own but would fall out of a single bed. I stayed in Berwick upon Tweed and York last year both rooms had comfortable armchair as well plus desk with chair . Plenty of room for a wheelchair user. Good lighting . Restaurants walking and disabled friendly . I travel but train as I don't drive so phone in advance to find taxi firm that will put my legs in and out of the car . In October booked my Primer inn room in Llandudno for May. Intend to go to Harrogate in September.

I can't use a dinner knife so asked for my food to be cut up in the kitchen for me which they did and put it together so it looked whole . Which was kind of them . I eat with a spoon and fork . As my hands tremble all the time . So always ask for extra napkins otherwise I end up wearing my food🤣. Highly recommend Primer inn. Some chain hotels don't have accessible rooms. And private hotels don't bother I think they are blind to anyone disabled . Plus they charge extra if you travel alone .

I worked with wheelchair users and visited Edinburgh by train many times for day trips. Never had a problem. Would avoid the busiest tourist months (I do anyway) but in March shouldn't be too manic. Depending on the wheelchair and user public transport may be entirely unnecessary regardless of hills.

Some Premier Inn have a wet room type shower but not all . When you go into their website and put in room type accessible comes up, I wouldn't book it online but phone the helpline number. Their rooms a usually a good size and have room for the wheelchair to turn around, emergency pull cords and an automatic door. Beds are quite high though so may be a problem for some transferring from chair to bed.
Also contact the Scottish tourist board /visit Scotland they may have information.

Just looked a the one by the Waverley came up and it does have a wet room style bathroom.

A search pulled up this - it is in Kimgs Stables Road!! but you can get Edinburgh taxis with wheelchairs. Sounds swish - no prices anywhere to be seen. It would take a phone call.

Apex hotel in the Grassmarket. Reviewed for disability by Euan. No shower seat, but reception have shower chairs. again, not near Waverley but wheelchair taxis available in Edinburgh.
