Just one Fitflop!

I have a pair of Fitflops size 7 which I love, they are so comfortable, I live in them during the summer months. However, the left one has split in a place I cannot repair (I have tried epoxy and also super glue) so I wondered if anybody knows where I could buy one Fitflop - I've looked at ebay but no joy. I haven't tried the actual company that manufacture them as I cannot guarantee the remaining one will last for years so I could always end up in the same situation for the other foot, anytime soon. There must be lots of people who throw stuff away when all they need is the matching item? If not, maybe I should start a site for one shoe/glove etc.

Buy a new pair.

Loobs Fri 16-May-25 09:28:41

Yes, I have already bought a new pair but I cannot bear waste - why throw away a perfectly good item if there is any chance of finding one to match - then I'd have two pairs.

Oh my daughter swears by these and she has arthritic nodules. Buy a new pair and be comfortable. I will buy some when I can get over the price of what is essentially fit flops and I already have a Clarks pair.

Maybe if you buy a new pair the one you keep will soon have a replacement? When one shoe goes usually the other isn't far behind.
However there may be an opening here for an enterprising person to start a shoe swap web-site? Some people have differently sized feet, or a missing foot?

Shoes come in pairs, so how can one undamaged shoe be described as a “ perfectly good item” which you are unable to throw away, when in fact, on its own it is totally useless!

Mustafafag Sun 18-May-25 14:36:23

@Loobs Have you looked on Vinted?

Missiseff Sun 18-May-25 14:46:10

I've had two pairs in the past where the toe post have snapped. Never entered my head to search for just one, I just threw them both and bought new 😳

Dizzyribs Sun 18-May-25 14:46:18

My husband only ever uses one rubber glove, the other remains new in the packet. He advertised on the local free site and found someone who takes the same size and only uses the other glove. They have regular swaps. Maybe you can find someone with the other odd fit flop via the same route?

Knittypamela Sun 18-May-25 16:48:18

There is a site where disabled people can buy one shoe but I'm sorry I've no idea what it's called.

Mt61 Sun 18-May-25 18:41:54

I kept my left fitflop, hoping I could get the same pair. Like you, tried to mend the right one with glue-ended up hard as hell & uncomfortable.
Eventually found a pair, same colour in a charity shop but size smaller. Can’t tell the difference in size, tbh.
I have to say though, I ruined my nice straight toes wearing them all through COVID 😩 toes now curled up.

How odd 😂why does he only use one glove?

I’ve read out your post about trying to buy one flip flop to my husband and just like me he thought it was beyond funny and definitely verging on the weird! ! Whatever would stop you buy a new pair unless of course you wear flipFlops that are gold plated. Please don’t test our intelligence by asking us readers such ridiculous questions! Tell me the writer of this post is joking!

Bought mine on Amazon for £22

@Dcba, we’re not talking about flip flops. They’re FitFlops - a different kettle of fish wink.

I most certainly wasn't testing anyone's intelligence, I simply believe that throwing something away when there is a chance that it could still have a useful life is dreadful in this day and age - the waste in the fashion industry is horrendous. As Guesswhat says, these are not £2.99 flipflops (although really the same rule applies, it would still be a waste) but much more expensive ones. Also, there must be times when people lose a shoe - maybe leave one behind when on holiday or it falls out of a bag (yeah, that does seem unlikely but it happens more than you'd think) so what I was enquiring about was whether anyone knew of a site that offered a spare of pairs of things. I can see that it wouldn't work for gloves and socks but shoes - I have a pair of Keen uneeks that cost a bomb and if I lost one would be really 'keen' (sorry) to find another. Actually, maybe I will look at starting a site that matches lost/broken pairs - I'll let you know how it goes.

Soulmates used to provide a service mainly intended for people with different sized feet but maybe they would consider develop their offer in this eco friendly age if they still exist

Pippa22 Sun 18-May-25 21:17:52

Are you a bit of a hoarder ? Spending so much time speculating how you can replace one damaged FitFlop is just wasted energy to my mind and I cannot understand it. Yes they cost more than you might wish to spend but they aren’t excessively expensive. Go on , treat yourself !

Dcba Sun 18-May-25 21:47:09

I’m with you on that thought! With that mentally it’s probably challenging for her to peel and throw away potato skins or onion skins!

Tooyoungytobeagrandma Sun 18-May-25 22:38:08

Dcba how rude you are!!!! There are people with only one leg/foot etc and as someone said maybe an enterprising person will set up a one shoe site just for this sort of thing. Don't be so dismissive, if you don't like the post move on, simples.

Yes, unfortunately you will have to buy a new pair, I think, although I know some can be quite expensive. At over £100 for a pair they really should last for a very long time.

I had a pair of good leather slip-ons, not very old, although the leather was still absolutely perfect the side had parted from the top on one shoe. I kept looking at them wondering what I could do with them but they went in the bin.

Gosh a couple of rude posters on here! I wear odd socks when one develops holes, some of us don’t like waste!

Fitflops are NOT Flipflops!

I use one glove for gardening quite often. Right hand pulls out the weeds so I protect it. Not that unusual. As for the shoes I think I would actually fork out for another pair because if one has gone the other one might well be not that good, either. A new one would kind of look ,well, shiny and new.
