Smelling good?

I have found that my body chemistry has probably changed as I have aged (quite dramatically at the menopause)- because I love fragrance and have always had several "on the go".

I find that several are very different on me now even though they aren't necessarily ones that have been reformulated.

You can Google it.

I know Clinique said Aromatics has been reformulated.
It was to comply with EU and IFRA rules (around safety I seem to remember).

I only buy cheapies now as nothing has the staying power it used to.M&S do very nice ones for £10.

Interesting point about body chemistry I am 82 and have not noticed this before now but I wonder if medication may also have some effect.

I've always preferred quite a 'strong' scent, quite simply because so many just didn't work for me.
Lately though they seem to smell differently on me....perhaps it's this!

I'd also give the M&S range a go...Florentyna is really nice and the Apothecary range have some lovely items.

Anais anais is lovely, my sons say they know when I’m in their houses!
A strong one of old is Youth Dew, but I haven’t sniffed at it in many many years, not sure if it’s changed at all.
I love Tweed, got some online last year, it’s still lovely!
Just pink, by Next is flowery and fresh, I always get compliments when wearing it.
Our smell does change. The smell is Nonenal, you can buy persimmon soap to help counter it. Look it up on google, it’s got all the info you need. 👍😀

Beautiful makes me sneeze, I don’t really care for the fragrance so it’s just as well.
A relatively cheap everyday day perfume is Elizabeth Arden’s 5thAvenue, an oldie but still on sale. Has a hint of Lily of the Valley.

A boyfriend bought me some Chanel No 5 for my 21st birthday and have used it ever since! I still think it is lovely, what a boring old fool! Not the same bottle!

On a side note, I was in a shop yesterday and the young man who served me smelled absolutely amazing - I was seriously tempted to ask him what he was wearing, then decided that would make me seem very creepy!

Janiepops I'm not talking about Nonenal which is quite different.

Just as our skin changes at puberty, so it does later.

Clinique Happy and M&S Florentyna are both floral and not expensive . I alternate 4 perfumes , the other two are Body Shop White Musk and Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass again not expensive

It just felt a bit 'cougarish' to me. He did smell very good though...

It’s apparently the best dupe known for a Tom Ford cherry one at £290 or something ridiculous. All the other smells in the Artiscent range are half price but not this one obviously. When I first put it on I thought it was very strong cherry smell but it has matured into a lovely smell and quite long lasting. Has anyone else tried it?

No, but have tried a Plum Japonaise one.
The original isn't made anymore and my husband loves it. There is one purporting to be the real thing on Ebay at £526.87 at the moment!

I did quite a lot of research as to which dupe to go for though.

I feel disappointed that there isn't a copyright on perfumes as it really is an art making them.

This is the video that "sold" the dupe to me just in case anyone else loved this fragrance.

I have been using Calvin Klein Euphoria for a while and love it.

I like Clinique’s Aromatic (?) in the yellow box and I love Clarins fragrances.

I can only echo the M and S dupes are excellent. You have to apply them more often (obviously) but I have used Pink Pepper, Pistachio and Neroli and have had unexpected compliments each time I've worn them.
My 'going out ' perfume is Liz Earle 15, unique and beautiful

So what are the M&S ones copying?

I do t know if Mand S are copying anything, but I do know that their perfumes are lovely and at a sensible price. My favourite it Florentyna.
Next do some nice ones too.

I like several of the Saltworks range.

You can buy a box of trial samples for £29 (you get ten, but at the moment there is an offer on and they throw in an extra three) so you can see which you like. The box includes a voucher for £25 off a full size bottle, or you can use it against there handbag-sized bottles if you can't make your mind up.

My favourites are Tabac Soleil and Brown Sugar, which aren't floral at all, but they also do a floral trial box if that's your preference - I'm not sure what Beautiful smells like. They are long lasting too.

It's ok NotSpaghetti Are cheaper perfumes always copies of well known expensive ones? If so, I didn't realise that. But it wouldn't worry me if they were. As a person who just cannot afford those I am perfectly content with my M&S ones, or similar.
I can't help feeling that many modern perfumes are overpriced.
