Seems reasonable, compared to what we pay. Are you on a water meter?

Mine has gone up twice in a year after meter readings.
It went up in the spring from £38 per month to £61 and now to £80.
We have had GC staying for several weeks and watering the garden of course but it seems a very steep rise to me.

Seems reasonable. It’s about what we pay, though when I just looked, because of your query, we are nearly £150 in credit at the moment so I’m going to ask if I can reduce payments or have a refund.

I am with Anglian Water. I live on my own and my bill for the last 6 months was £165. I am on a meter.

Southern Water - £46pm.

Seems reasonable to me too. I’ve a water meter - paying Northumbrian Water £31 a month, so that’s £186 for 6 months. I’m on my own, don’t wash the car and have just used/emptied the water butt over the Summer. I do DD2’s laundry, but it just goes in with mine.

Southern Water £39 per month - 2 people 3 bed house, dishwasher, washing machine, shower, don’t wash the cars, water from shower is used on the garden, don’t use a hose.

Sounds entirely reasonable.

My metred water payment has risen from £27 month to £40.
Your bill works out at £34 per month for two of you. I'm on my own.
So I consider your bill to be fair.
I do take on board the fact that water bills are now more expensive than in the recent past. If it's causing you hardship you have my sympathy.
So much has risen in price recently.
It must be difficult for some people to manage.

Personally I use all the water for my garden from big water butts and my charge was £124, wessex water, one of the most expensive in the uk. Single person. There are 2 of you OP and I make that £102 each. You have a bargain

Anglia Water issue a combined bill for fresh water and waste water.

I am with Anglia. They switched over to combined billing in summer 2024. I live alone and am a frugal user. My bill is currently £35 pm or £420 per year. I don’t think £1.15 a day for this service is unreasonable at all.

We are now all paying extra for the water companies to upgrade their systems - long overdue, but I resent the fact that shareholders have had cushy bonuses for years.
I pay £27 per month, increased from £22.

is this for water in and sewage out, metered.

I am with Affinity Water and I pay £20 a month for metered water. My dishwasher is on every other day, but I appear to wash for the neighbourhood as my washing is on most days at least twice.

I have short showers only and never water anything.

I am very careful and the monthly amount would be less if I did not have a weekly cleaner.

Thames Water. We pay £50 a month and have just had a notification that we owe £370. They have said they will be increasing our monthly payment to £200 a month! We have said we will pay the £372 and they can increase our monthly payment to £112. How do families with young children cope?

It's less than ours. We couldn't have a meter so ours is based on what the Water Company estimate two people would use. DH just checked and it is £592 pa.

Allira we are with Welsh Water. Originally they said we couldn’t have a meter as we are quite rural. However we now have one, not on the road or pavement as many are, but just outside the back door.

Gosh that seems a lot Allira! We’re Dwr Cymru, metered and spend approximately £250 pa, billed May and November.

I expect the next bill to be slightly higher than normal as the garden tubs have needed extra refreshment after the glorious summer we’ve had!

having just moved from Thames water to Anglian, I was suprised how high our estimated water bill was at our new address. I spoke to Anglian who told me that water bills vary a lot from company company, depending on regional circumstances.

In Thames Water's region it is very highly populated with very large built up areas. This means that the number of customers per mile of water main or sewer, is many more than in Anglian and its large rural area and fewer built up areas where the number ofconsumers per mile of main are fewer.
