Has anyone tried seaweed shampoo and conditioner please? I’m a long way past the menopause but my hair is rapidly getting thinner and the hairbrush always has more hair in than it ever used to have.

I've been using it for a few weeks, it made my hair soft but nothing special and the metal containers are hard to get the conditioner out of. Have to shake vigorously . Phew! Not giving a bad review but won't be spending that sort of money again. Just going to pick some rosemary and get some extra eggs!

The hairbrush stopped having more hair on it for sure.
It works for me.
Tried thickening shampoo but it coated jy hair making it thicker but also coated my scalp which left me with dandruff

I have used the seaweed shampoo and condtioner and like it. I also gave it as a gift to my daighter in law (she uses as much natural priducts as possible due to health condtion and she loves it.) I will say I use my normal shampoo in between washes, but the more I have used the Cornish one the better my hair has responded.

Is it any good Shell951?

Glad you mentioned Plantur.
That's the shampoo I use, I was worried about naming it Plantur 39

After a change of circumstances meant I had to be more careful with my spending, I bought Asda Just Essentials Coconut shampoo and conditioner at 75p each for 500ml. My thick wavy hair is shinier than it has been for years and only needs washing every 3 days instead of 2. I haven't noticed a change in the hair loss though, which is not excessive.

Just don't use 'Head and Shoulders' it builds up residue which also sticks to the shower screen and tray. I used to rinse with a bit of white vinegar in warm jug of water which always left my hair shiny. As you get older the texture of your hair changes. I'm lucky to have thick hair bit it definitely feels drier as I'm older.

The advertising for the seaweed products is very aggressive and yes the cost is phenomenal. I wonder, however, whether anyone has tried using rosemary - which is a wonderful stimulant in terms of blood flow. Neal's Yard do an unperfumed organic hair and body wash and a few drops of organic rosemary oil mixed in seems to be affordable and surely wouldn't harm the scalp.

I use a volumiser shampoo (whichever is on offer), but the Avon one seems to work best. Plantur has a range. You can buy (very expensive) hair restorers, but I find colouring my hair gives it better condition and feels fuller. I recently found a colour conditioner in Superdrug - really good.

Champo Growth Serum does work if you keep at it. New hairs all over crown and hairline.

Cambia

I have had some good results using a scalp serum. Listened to sliced bread podcast and they agreed that this was the only thing likely to work. Used it for about six months now and my hairdresser says it is definitely working. Used it every day for a couple of months and now just use it three times a week together with scalp massager.

Which scalp serum did you use, please?

Shel1951 Fri 21-Nov-25 16:56:07

Found it online then it came into the chemist

I can't advertise the brand but I will answer a message.
Its around 11 euro

Tried it for six months didn’t make an ounce of difference and expensive.

I have fine, silver hair. I use Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening on my hair twice a week and a ‘Lift the Roots’ spray on product when I blow dry. My hair looks and feels much better.

It’s expensive but last quite a long time. I’ve been using it for about a year as I was getting an itchy scalp and this shampoo helps and also seems to improve condition of hair. It’s best to wash twice though as it doesn’t lather very much on first wash but does on the second. Hair does get a bit lank every few weeks though so use a different shampoo occasionally. The conditioner is impossible to get out of the bottle but they do a pump to fit on request.
I shall carry on using it for a while anyway.
It’s a pity they don’t do a trial size.

No shampoo will help. Maybe investigate supplements - Boots Hair Skin and Nails is a good place to start!

icanhandthemback Fri 21-Nov-25 15:13:25

For all those saying that the Cornwall Seaweed shampoo doesn't lather well, it doesn't need to. It does leave hair clean regardless, it is just that we are used to having shampoos with chemicals in them to help lather them. I found it used 5 pumps on the first wash and 4 in the second, it was fine for cleaning. I have long, albeit thin, hair and this works well for cleanliness. The conditioner is also good. However, it just doesn't help growth which is my beef.

Hi there. Yes, I fell for the marketing and was very disappointed. It was tricky to get out of the metal bottle, smelt a bit odd and did nothing for my hair. Interestingly, even my DH, who is not usually that discerning didn’t use it either. A bit of an expensive mistake.

Before conditioner, we rinsed our hair with vinegar which was supposed to make hair shine.

I did that too, as a teen. We'd try anything.. once. "A friend" at school assured us all that what's very good for hair and scalp, is beaten raw egg massaged into the scalp and wet hair and let it sit for half an hour then rinse.

Nobody mentioned when rinsing it out "don't use hot water"
:-((((((

Oh yes, I made that mistake too, as a teenager!
Scrambled egg is not easy to wash out of long hair.

I’ve been using the Cornish Seaweed one for over a year and it’s been a lifesaver, I struggled for 40+ years with Psoriasis of the scalp with really annoying dandruff like flaking covering my shoulders. The Shampoo, Conditioner and scalp oil have completely cured it and with my scalp being in so much better health I think my hair is growing thicker. As a plus, my hair is really lovely and shin6 and soft,

Pennygran Fri 21-Nov-25 14:38:50

I tried it, from Cornwall. Recently flushed it down the sink. Doesn't lathered, hard to rub in. Kept the conditioner though haven't been using it. Still using the lip balm.

Temas Fri 21-Nov-25 14:33:16

I too fell for the shampoo and conditioner in the metal containers. I notice they are having an advertising blitz on social media. I won’t be falling for that again
