Seaweed shampoo

I keep seeing adverts for it but it’s quite expensive.

I bit the bullet 2wks ago and ordered the shampoo and conditioner so far I’ve only used 3/4 times, it doesn’t foam up like my old shampoo but it felt soft after washing. I will post again after a few weeks with my review. Yes I thought it was very expensive.

Thank you tanith, that’s very interesting. I’ll hold off buying any until you report back. The brand I’ve seen on fb does offer a money back guarantee if you’re not satisfied.

I fell for the advertising too. I can't say I'm impressed. The metal container is awkward to manipulate in the shower and the shampoo itself has a vaguely medicinal smell. As soon as I'd ordered it I received another email to say that my hair might not feel great for the first few weeks so I'd need to but this other shampoo first. Hmmmm. I'll not be buying it or the main shampoo again

No shampoo will restore hair loss- the hair is already dead and grows from the inside of your scalp. The best you can do is a good volumiser shampoo and a good haircut.

Oh no, not another one I’m going to fall for! I’m itching to google this now, but will try to resist. I’ve tried so many miracle remedies for my horrible hair. All with hundreds of rave reviews, none of them cheap. I’ve just passed my massive bottle of Routine onto a friend after quickly realising it wasn’t for me.

The one that did make a difference was a simple, cheap as chips cocoa shampoo bar from a small company called Nuddy. Who of course had stopped production when I tried to buy more.

I have used seaweed shampoo and conditioner, but not particularly for hair thinning reasons. I used it more for what I thought were eco reasons and to make my coloured hair shinier. Yes, very expensive and the make I bought online (from a firm in Cornwall I believe) left my head very itchy, although I did have a problem with an ulcer behind my ear at the time, so that might have some bearing on it. I think the shampoo didn’t suit my hair/head! The metal container wasn’t user friendly in the shower and you needed a lot of it as it didn’t lather up well. I still use the conditioner as I had some left when I switched back to my normal shampoo and that’s been fine - no itchiness - but I can’t speak for its properties for reducing the effects of hair thinning.

As a child my mother and grandmother taught me to rinse washed hair with home made rosemary tea.

Chop up a generous handful of fresh stems of rosemary in a 2 pint jug, pour on boiling water, brew, cool, strain, and rinse your hair with it. Do it over a basin with the plug in, so you can keep scooping up the tea and repeating.

It makes your hair grow thick, strong and very glossy.

if the adverts are to be believed then you need scalp therapy - there are special brushes .

off subject but i like the natural source seaweed shower gel, though it doesnt smell like seaweed its lovely

Before conditioner, we rinsed our hair with vinegar which was supposed to make hair shine.

The thing that used to help my thinning hair was giving a final rinse in very cold water. When I used to go to the gym I would to go from the sauna to a freeezing cold shower, too. But I’m too much of a wimp to do that these days.

The only shampoo and conditioner that made a difference to my thinning hair was by Elvieve...blue bottle....now gone out of production, don't know why??? Sometimes I see the shampoo in small shops ...old stock i guess but can't get the conditioner anywhere. 😕😕

I was under a Trichologist for some because of hair loss.
You are perfectly correct.
You have to have several blood tests taken try to ascertain what might be wrong.
Your scalp is photographed with the most amazing magnification.

I thought the new wonder hair thickener was caffeine shampoo?
Maybe don’t over wash your hair or over brush it? My hair looks best after three days post shampoo.

So does mine, but only after several very generous applications of dry shampoo.

I’ve tried just about everything. Blood tests etc don’t help if the verdict is that it’s just a genetic quirk with no particular cause - my grandma and aunt had the same type of thin, fine hair as I have, my dad was bald at 25. The only thing I’ve yet to try is rubbing my scalp every night with a cut raw onion, as my friend is forever nagging me to do. She was brought up in India and has fabulous hair - perhaps I should do as I’m told!

You panicked me a bit there, travelsafar, as this is my go to volumising shampoo. I’ve just checked though and it’s still on the Boots website. Perhaps I should buy a couple of bottle just in case!

My sister started using Pantur 39 and she found less hair fell out, so I decided to give it a go. Result is that there is definitely less hair left in the hairbrush and the vacuum cleaner doesn't need to be emptied of all my hair quite as quickly. So that seems to be working for me.

I fell for it. It did nothing.

I used to buy Rosemary shampoo from Heath and Heather many years ago.
It did seem to make my hair shinier.

I did that too, as a teen. We'd try anything.. once. "A friend" at school assured us all that what's very good for hair and scalp, is beaten raw egg massaged into the scalp and wet hair and let it sit for half an hour then rinse.

Nobody mentioned when rinsing it out "don't use hot water"

I too fell for the shampoo and conditioner in the metal containers. I notice they are having an advertising blitz on social media. I won’t be falling for that again

I tried it, from Cornwall. Recently flushed it down the sink. Doesn't lathered, hard to rub in. Kept the conditioner though haven't been using it. Still using the lip balm.

I’ve been using the Cornish Seaweed one for over a year and it’s been a lifesaver, I struggled for 40+ years with Psoriasis of the scalp with really annoying dandruff like flaking covering my shoulders.
