AO or alternative civilised white goods supplier

it is now 14,40 and apparently all lines are busy whillst my expensively sktuated dishwasher , loaded, is defunct.

The best white goods suppliers are your nearest Euronics shop.
They have bulk buying power and are no more expensive than the online retailers.
Euronics are all independent retailers and offer a more bespoke service.

We have had several appliances from AO and never had a problem so can’t comment on their after sales service. Perhaps try them on Monday as often weekend switchboards are manned by students and/or part time workers.

Perhaps you could ring the manufacturer? Or look up their site?

We haven't had a problem with AO nor JL but we usually use a company near here called Appliance Warehouse who are very good. They are online too.

I agree too. Our nearest Euronics retailer sourced, delivered and installed a new double oven for me on Christmas Eve when my old one packed up 3 days before Xmas.
They arrived when they promised, took the old one away and were lovely.

I bought my Bosch fridge freezer from Euronics about 12/13 years ago and was very impressed with their service and delivery. I would definitely use them again if I needed to replace any item.

I have used Euronics in the past. Being local independent businesses the service is good, but definitely not the cheapest.
I also had issues with them as they recommended Beko and twice the product broke down soon after the end of guarantee.

I find Curry's is good on price and fast delivery, though maybe not the best if there is a problem.

I now luckily have a local independent shop which is both cheap and has good service.

Speak as you find but AO nearly burned DD1’s house down. They’d connected her dishwasher, it caught fire, then they attempted to blame the installation, until they realised it was them. Even then, a very unsatisfactory outcome.
As for Curry’s, they sold my S-in-L a fridge/freezer, took her money in September, then said the non-delivery was not their problem, blaming the ‘distribution centre’. Apparently the model she’d bought was no longer available, but no-one told her, She eventually took delivery of a similar model the Friday before Christmas.

I've never had a problem with Curry's. Last year I bought a new oven and a washing machine. Curry's delivered both and with a small extra charge they installed them and took the old appliances away for recycling.

Another vote for Euronics. The initial outlay may be a little more expensive, but there is often no delivery charge, and apart from a freezer, they' ve never charged me to take away old appliance.

They are also one of the very few Blomberg stockists - all my white goods are now Blomberg - efficient, reasonably priced and in my experience have a very long life.

I agree about Euronics they are our best local store although I haven’t had any problem with AO in the past.

Curry's have always seemed quite good but I've never heard of Euronics, must investigate. A local independent shop has just opened, perhaps they are part of the franchise.

We've had problems with items from JL and their after-sales service because I think they use outside contractors.

Yes, the new electrical shop here is part of the Euronics co-operative.

We’ve not had issues with AO, historically there has been no trouble getting through to them and we’ve found the staff helpful and considerate. I’m so sorry you’re having this experience sores. Their customer service seems to have gone downhill.

We were deterred from using our local Euronincs store by a very pushy and almost aggressive salesman. Now we use a local, totally independent supplier with polite, helpful staff who also handle repairs. A little more expensive but we think worth every penny.

Hope your dishwasher can be persuaded to release its contents soon sores, I’d be climbing the walls I think.

I found AO to be good. They delivered and fitted my dishwasher and did the first cleaning cycle. I was lucky because the day after delivery we went into lockdown for covid.

I have this morning spoken to Jonathon at AO technical support who attempted to phone Electra, only open Monday
to Friday, 9-5, when everyone knows that appliances die at the weekend.
I was sure it was something simple I was doing or not doing, I loaded the salt container as instructions, always the same result, machine starts, light moves down to the middle showing wash in progress, machine stops.

The booklet is printed in pale type as though the ink was running out and how do the printers make the words so tiny

I had never heard of Euronics, so looked them up - the nearest store is Bicester which at 20+ miles away but I will explore this option for future reference as we are hoping to move in the Spring, new white goods

As a family over 20+ years we have used AO for everything, four different households now, with no problems from machines, delivery next day, after sales service never required, apart from extra insurance which we have never had, pushy as they are on commission.

They are an amazing company, built from nothing, with a fridge recycling plant in Telford and great reviews on Trustpilot.
Now we wait.

Blomberg is under the Beko umbrella, made in Turkiye. We have a Beko fridge/freezer which is fine but not the best we have had - Im going to check out Blomberg, thanks.

It’s a minefield out there.

I don’t think modern appliances are anything like as durable
as their elderly counterparts.
Even our 7 years old Miele washing machine still going strong, with excellent results, we were advised to keep, as new ones are no longer made in Germany! and of inferior metal so not as heavy or robust,
a long way from my Mum’s ACME square tall washer with an agitator and a fold down adjustable wringer.
Washdays it was my job to catch the hot flattened washing as Mum gave that handle a vigorous spin.

Such hard work but not as laboured and dangerous as my Nan’s with her ‘copper’ heating, boiling nappies and pristine linen tablecloths.
Bedding, heavy linen sheets went to the Chinese laundry nearby, with grandad’s shirts and collars, picked up days later, snowy white for shillings.
