Yesterday I did a test drive in an EV. Looking at the pros and cons, costs etc of buying one of these vehicles at age 70.
Have any other grans made the change and what are their views on it.
I really think the cost of these vehicles needs to drop significantly as we move rapidly towards net zero.

At 70 I'd go for electric if I could afford a high range one without consideration of costs. Batteries do deplete so starting high vould still give you a reasonable range up to
the time you stop driving. Whilst saving on fuel costs for me it's the litjium battery that puts me of, just not convinced the production doesn't cause as much if not more environmental damage thsn producing petrol.

We have a self charging hybrid and love it.

I have added my name to the waiting list for an interest free government loan for a 2nd hand EV. Thanks for this thread and the reminder.
I don't imagine I would be driving long distances.

The cost of a charge is mounting so unless you have a home charger I doubt an EV is cost effective.

But my trusty petrol Yaris will be 15 this year and it can't go on forever.

My SiL has just bought a Tesla. He researched EVs in some depth before committing himself. One of the considerations was that Tesla have the most extensive range of charging stations throughout the country at the moment. They have done a couple of long journeys and he is very satisfied with both the range and the charging time.
If I was changing my car I would probably consider a plug in hybrid rather than fully electric.
