Are heated throws worth buying?

I’ve read that these are a good way to keep warm during the day whilst reading or watching tv, but wonder are they any more effective than a blanket and hot water bottle?

The reviews I’ve read are mixed, ie, some say they are great, others that they only partially heat up/ are slow to heat up, or stop working altogether after a few months.

As they are not particularly cheap, I wonder if they are really worth having?

I’ve got a blanket and bottles that I use when it’s chilly, but wonder are these heated blankets any better and worth considering, or is it just hype?

If any of you have one, what are your thoughts?

I have a Dreamland Inteliheat throw.
Works great, loads of settings. 5 mtr cable

I bought the posh wolfskin one off my catalogue but I keep the house warm so I didnt use it, my granddaughter took it and absolutely loves it. Saves her a fortune heating her flat. I have an intelligent fleece electric underblanket on the bed which is a luxury. Both Wolfie and the electric blanket have multiple settings.

love it. Nothing compares. A night in front of the t.v wrapped up in a heated throw.

We have one but I find it too hot. My DD loves it when she visits as she always dresses for summer ☀️

Wouldn't be without ours. Big enough for 2. Variety of heat and time settings. Legs get cold easily, this quickly thaws me out

We have one, use it everyday, we can’t afford to put on the heating until about 5pm , so it is very handy if you are sitting down at all in the day.

I’m cold-blooded and live in a draughty house. Heated blanket is a god-send. Saves heating whole house all the time.

I didn’t like it, but gave it to one of my DGD. She loves it, so it was worth trying.

I have 2 and they're 2 of the best buys I've ever made.

I've just had to throw mine off because I'm way too hot under it and it's bloody freezing.

They don't get hot so some people give bad reviews based on that, they don't heat up on every spot either, again another reason for bad reviews.
They work by being warm, imagine wrapping yourself up in a soft warm radiator. The heat comes from wires running around the blanket, so obviously there will be spots with no heat... But the entire blanket gets warm eventually. I managed an entire winter without heating and only had my heated blankets. The only time I was was cold was when I was getting a shower or changing my clothes.

Personally I can't recommend them highly enough.

A definite yes to a heated throw. I have a Dreamland one. Bought one for my 93 year old dad too and he loves it.

I bought my furry one from Lakeland, it heats up very quickly. I wouldn’t be without it as my house is freezing and I can’t afford to put the heating on.

An update:
Based on all the positive responses, I ordered one and it arrived last night. I’ve given it a try and it’s great.
Thank you to all of you for your comments.

I have a Silent night heated blanket. Fabulous!! I had it two years ago as a gift from my Sister. Wouldn't be without it now, so cosy when watching TV or reading.

I got one as a Christmas present as I feel the cold terribly.
I love it. Its very luxurious with velvet on one side and a borg type fluffy covering on the other.
Not sure if I'm allowed to mention the make but it sounds very like one already mentioned, with 9. settings. Sooo cosy!
Never bothered to check how much it costs to run.
