It's very common for older women to develop what's now termed genitourinary syndrome of menopause (it used to be called atrophic vaginitis). This can cause a number of different issues, including a higher risk of urinary tract infections. I second seeing a doctor about the situation.
As an aside, if you are diagnosed with GSM, even if you don't wish to or can't take systemic hormone replacement therapy, it might be an option for you to use vaginal estrogen. My understanding is that the systemic absorption from this is minimal, so you don't run the risk of systemic side effects. Your provider can help you determine if this is a suitable option for you.
