All praise to Mark Jordan staff, they rang me to tell me the lift was briken, but they could carry DJ in his wheelchair up a flight of steps into the restaurant, whichh they did!

It was. We wandered down a little lane we’ve never been down before, it was magical. I can really imagine Miss Marple roaming the lanes with her basket or the famous five having adventures in the harbour and the forts.

Thanks for confirming Crabby, as for famous five….. I can tell you growing up there what we never appreciated is, that it was exactly like that. We had the freedom to explore everything and boy did we. I truly can’t imagine a better childhood anywhere. The only thing might be as adults in the world we are all possibly a little too trusting of people. The world away from Alderney is not quite so friendly.

Stair climber was brilliant, enabled DH to get up to the ramparts, perfect day, superb views and wonderful weather at a sunny 24 degrees. We are going to try Mark Jordan at the Beach restaurant tonight, which was recommended by the Castle staff.

You are going to love Mark Jordan. It has to be one of the best restaurants in Jersey! La Capannina is also excellent in St Helier. Bon Appetit!

Fine if you are both able bodied Rosie, impossible if not. 🙂 But tomorrow we have booked the Stair Climber at Mont Orgueil to get us up a level, that will be a new experience!

Must admit never been to Mont Orgueil as my husband now has mobility problems We did visit St Elizabeth Castle though and can’t recall that being a problem we obviously did not walk over but used the transport duck

St Elizabeth Castle in St Helier is well worth a visit also The Maritime museum on the harbour.

Things have perked up, suitcase arrived after 24 hours and the temperature is now cooler and we have 3 fans! We have toured the Jersey Tunnels, dug with slave labour during the occupation, and you definitely need a cardigan to go down there!

Tuesday was the Hamptonne Country Life Museum, historic farm buildings and DH managed to lose one of his hearing aids (!) then on to St Brelade's bay which is stunningly beautiful miles of empty golden sands and the Oyster Box cafe did a wonderful freshly caught sea bass lunch. Wednesday was the Pallet Steam Museum - traction engines, old locomotives, tractors and old cars, all beautifully restored owned by the Pallot family with stories of their experience of the occupation. Today was Gerald Durrell's conservation zoo, gorillas and orangs lazing in the sun. There is a volunteer organisation, WetWheels, that gives the wheelchair bound free boat tours of the coast, but sadly they didn't have a volunteer at the times we could make it.

We are off to Jersey Sunday on our yearly pilgrimage. So sorry to hear about your missing luggage B9exchange hope it turns up quickly We have never flown to Jersey much prefer to load the car up and take it with us. We actually don’t use our car on Jersey as it has a reasonable bus service. Same hotel which is very comfortable and set in lovely gardens with a pool.

I walked past it yesterday and it seemed to be. It was lunchtime so it was closed then but looked active.

La Place is a hotel with some holiday cottages. We stayed in the cottages. They were brand new then and immaculate.
