Follow up to my Holiday Dilemma

In case anyone still interested - I packed my case, got everything sorted. meds counted out etc and was good to go the day before departure date.
Not a peep out of my friend one way or the other.
Day of departure I rang her and she said she wasn't going.
I suppose I was waiting for a change of heart. So I decided last minute not to go, my heart just wasn't in it.
Only seen her twice since then and no mention made of the holiday so of course there is no way I'd plan another with her and I'm about £1k out of pocket.

I looked back for your original thread on this.

It seems your friend has health issues which meant she was undecided about going, but had offered to reimburse you the cost of your holiday, but you didn’t expect her to.

If that were me, I would have needed to know earlier whether or not she was hoping to go, I couldn’t have left it up in the air until departure day.

I can appreciate why you didn’t want to go on your own.

Disappointing obviously. Lesson learned, no more holiday plans with her.

How did you find her original thread? Is there some box i can click to read it?
As it is, I can't understand why on earth you didn't just go on your own. I am in my 80s and mostly go abroad on my own, its great!
But as I have no idea what you're really discussing I can't comment.

I'd have gone on my own.

If she couldn’t go due to health issues couldn’t you have both claimed on insurance. Anyway, I would have gone

I also looked for the previous thread but couldn’t find it.
FWIW I would have gone on the holiday by myself, at least the money wouldn’t have been wasted.

I remember your post.
I too would have gone on my own.

Had she also left it to the last minute so will be losing £1k also. I couldn't have been able to cope with the uncertainty and would have had to have made a decision before departure day. Who needs that unnecessary stress?

I would have gone on my own.

You always knew this was a possibility and she did offer to reimburse you.
