Tattoos on older women

I had my one and only tattoo done when I reached 70 yr old.
It’s a small outline of my cockapoo with a heart above his head, and it’s on my ankle, as he’s always around my feet.
He’s very special to me because he’s my Assistance dog and has been my saviour. I owe him so much ❤️🐾

I’ve got three wouldn’t have any more one just above ankle one on each shoulder blade all can be covered by clothes they are only really seen in summer months they are tributes to close family. Wouldn’t have any on arms as I like to see clear skin, each to their own of course

Did you see the cartoon , set in a care home, of two residents playing “Guess the tattoo” ?
I think the only tattoo I would be tempted to get is if I had a serious allergy. Or a rare blood group. Perhaps inside the wrist for medics to see.

I have two, very personal to me and hidden by clothes. I discovered a similarly aged colleague has the most beautiful tattoo I have ever seen very recently. I often think of having another but have never got round to it. They can look absolutely beautiful if done well.

I heard that people like the pain of getting tattoos, dealing with anxiety etc and they get addicted to having them.

If they're addicted to pain, they can come round here and I'll bash 'em with a screwdriver for a couple of hours, for half the price.

Former Spice Girl Mel C got married yesterday. She is in her 50s now. Her photos are awful showing some very ugly tattoos on her back and arms. An old fashioned tribal band and an anchor and something I don’t recognise on her back. I seem to recall she had a big black cross on the other arm.

Not a fan myself except that I have seen tattoos used to - not cover up, more celebrate? - mastectomy scars (things like climbing roses all over the chest) and I think that were I faced with such surgery I might well consider something similar.

A friend of mine was one of the very first to have nipples tattooed on following reconstruction after breast cancer. She was featured in medical journals and was thrilled with them

I am thinking of getting a tattoo to cover up a scar across one half of my back which resulted from a mastectomy, where a muscle was taken from my back to support a breast implant. I am very conscious of that scar, and although I am in my 70s, it bothers me when I look in the mirror.

I bumped into a young woman today - I am on the same trustees as she is. She is usually more covered up than today when, because of the heat, she was wearing shorts - very short ones! On her upper thighs there are several really strange tattoos - nothing artistic - just poorly drawn outlines of things - a car was one of them. About 6 or more inches long. Really crudely done. Lots of white space. I am sure she loves them but it is hard to imagine why anyone might do this ...

I have a tattoo on my left inside forearm.

I had it done after my husband died. It means a lot to me and it was designed and done by my now daughter in law.

It shows my husbands heartbeat, the date he died and a styalised version of the Wonder Woman logo as my adult kids nicknamed me a Wonder Widow.

That's unusual, and looks good.

Exactly. A friend of my daughter is very heavily tattooed, with full sleeves on both arms. My daughter was a bridesmaid at her wedding, and all I saw was a beautiful bride, who looked radiantly happy, as she should be.

Those of you who have tattoos, has anyone bitterly regretted it after a matter of years, or even months, and have you tried to have them removed?

I know it allegedly can be done but I can’t imagine the skin would go back to its perfect, unblemished state.

So, a tattoo is for life.
How can anyone possibly be absolutely certain that they will still love it, decades down the line?
They can’t, can they?

They can’t, can they?

I've never regretted mine.
They are small, and I don't give them a second thought.

My skin has plenty of blemishes, so they just blend in with the general state of saggy, scarred, lumpy bits on me.

I had a friend years ago who loved ac/dc, and their album covers featured a skeleton riding a Harley Davidson motorbike, and doing other skeleton things.

When she was 17 my friend had a whole album cover tattoed on her back.
Clever, but horrible.
