Audio books for the blind

My very elderly and non technically minded mum is registered partially sighted. She cannot read anything and is hopeless with anything technical. It took weeks to get her to understand the simple use of a mobile. I am trying to find a device in which novels (in cd form ?) can be put so she has some form of entertainment. Does anyone have knowledge of such an item and where you get the stories to insert? Working it must be very simple or she just won’t get it or use it.
Many thanks in advance for any ideas.

Is Audible too awkward?

Listening Books is subsidised for disabled ... I think it's £20 per year but does come via their app on either phone or laptop.

If she has a mobile phone you can put the app on.her home screen and she can just click on it to listen. You might need to download the books for her if she finds tech hard, but once the book is there you just press play.

My friend is registered with the RN I B, and gets books through Alexa.

Alexa definitely.
Once the system is set up you can just request the book you want.

Thanks all so far. Mum definitely couldn’t cope with making Audible work, even if we gave her a smart phone, but I’ll definitely look into Alexa….

All she has to do with Alexa is talk to her - that's a great idea.
