My beloved daughter took her life in the early hours of this morning.

My first born, my joy, my best friend , my laughter, my tears

I am broken

Thinking of you and sending love xxxxxx

Just received phone call from Father M, all well with my choices for service . He has only been at the Cathedral a month. He was intrigued because three priests have left messages for him to contact them, they want to assist in the service , he said she was obviously a much loved person .

She would have the giggles that there will be more priests than bearers , my priest friend is one,he has known her since she was six. A close friend of hers, Father M is coming down from his work at Grenfell Towers to assist and a retired Cannon of the Cathedral who she worked with on several charity committees also wants to assist, poor Father M said - can I expect anymore to come forward ?

Anniebach have you said what music/hymns and readings you have chosen?
Being Wales I expect the singing to raise the roof, so to speak.

gillybob Wed 08-Nov-17 10:24:20

Oh Annie doesn't this just show how well thought of and loved your darling daughter was to all who knew her?

Gagagran Wed 08-Nov-17 10:26:07

Oh Annie - through the pain and sadness you can still smile! What a tribute to your lovely girl that so many want to mark her passing with love and appreciation of all that she was. That is also a tribute to you, her Mum who gave birth to her.

I completely understand the problem you are having with the bridge. Just had a fleeting thought that if you could try and see it as the "rainbow bridge" that people refer to when they have lost a beloved pet, as the pathway to brighter and better things? Might that help? Ignore me if not - just wondered if it could help a bit.

Thinking of you every day and sending positive vibes to support you in these difficult days. xx

Oh Annie flowers I've only just seen this. Sending much love. We have experienced this dreadful thing in our family.

Luckygirl Wed 08-Nov-17 10:47:41

Still in my thoughts and wishing you strength to keep going, as you are doing admirably.

Lillie Wed 08-Nov-17 10:51:07

I've come late to this sad news too. Thinking of you Annie and your family at this difficult time.

KatyK Wed 08-Nov-17 11:10:02

Annie your daughter sounds such a wondeful person. You are strong and brave, although you may not feel like it at times. My brother did the same thing at the age of 24. It is so hard and obviously he was my brother, not my child. As you can see, we are all thinking of you.

I have chosen -

Psalm 121

Gospel of St.John - In my fathers house are many mansion, I go to prepare a place for you etc,

Hymns

How Great Thou Art. She told me she would choose it for me , I said to my knowledge I am not yet dying, we laughed

Morning Has Broken. Because it is cheery and speaks of renewal of each day.

And because she was a six nations fanatic - like me - and Welsh to her core why not blast the roof off and have

Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer

To be played by the organist as she is brought into the Cathedral and taken out

Lovely thought gagagran

KatyK, I am so very sorry

MawBroon Wed 08-Nov-17 12:18:51

Fabulous Anniebach We’ll be able to hear it from here. I love “How Great Thou Art” and “Guide me”

Alima Wed 08-Nov-17 12:21:31

Annie, what a wonderful service it will be. (My dear Welsh friend’s service only last week included Psalm 121).

KatyK Wed 08-Nov-17 12:27:41

Oh Annie Thank you. This is about your loss not mine - it was many years ago but sometimes it can be of some comfort to know others have been through this horrendous nightmare. The words/hyms you have chosen are beautiful.

ninathenana Wed 08-Nov-17 12:30:52

All beautiful choices Annie that clip had the tears rolling. I'm English but if I hear anything sung in Welsh it sets me off.
Sending you love

Greenfinch Wed 08-Nov-17 12:43:20

It sounds like a real celebration of her life. What a marvellous choice of hymns and reading.

gillybob Wed 08-Nov-17 12:50:48

Dear Annie you already know that me and him upstairs don't exactly see eye to eye..... but I absolutely love this hymn.

How Great Thou Art. She told me she would choose it for me , I said to my knowledge I am not yet dying, we laughed

If that makes me a hypocrite or a bad person, I don't care. I sang it with all my heart at the funeral of my dads elderly neighbour last week. So uplifting.

kittylester Wed 08-Nov-17 13:25:46

Annie, I've just watched the utube clip and there is a picture of the view from where we lived when I was small! Thank you for a lovely song and a happy memory for me

Now I'm really crying!

I hope the love you are receiving here will help you over that bridge!

Wonderful choices annie and it sounds as though your daughter was a much loved person. You have, in the past, posted prayers for others going through hard times. There are many believers on GN who hold you in their prayers and many without faith that just want to support you and help in any way they can. This may be a virtual world but we, in our real minds, care for you and about you and your family. Take strength from knowing that the caring is real.

NfkDumpling Wed 08-Nov-17 13:32:42

Lovely choices for the service Annie. It’s good to have hymns people can give good voice to, to give support.

Luckygirl Wed 08-Nov-17 14:48:16

Wonderful hymn choices - I can hear Calon Lan raising the roof with lovely Welsh voices - the tenor part is wonderful! And Guide me O Thou Great Redeemer too. A good sing is a very effective emotional release for everyone, and I think your choices are just perfect. x

Wheniwasyourage Wed 08-Nov-17 14:52:32

You'll be guaranteed an uplifting service with those choices, Annie. I hope it helps you and all your family and friends. We'll be with you when you feel you can cross the bridge, and your dear daughter will be with you too.

Bellanonna Wed 08-Nov-17 15:00:50

What lovely choices Annie. I love those two hymns. I didn’t know Calon Lan but now I do, and it’s beautiful. They will all sound magnificent in a cathedral.

moomin Wed 08-Nov-17 16:31:03
