I have said I fear seeing the bridge in town where my adored daughter died last November. Cannot go to physiotherapist, GP, dentist because their surgeries are next to the bridge, have to cross it to go to town so will not go there .

We have been hit by the storms. The river in the town has flooded many times over the years, I heard yesterday it was only 2” off flooding again. There is a group on line for information on what is going on in and around town. I look at it every day, this morning i wanted to check which roads are still closed because I could tell my younger granddaughter which roads to avoid should she decide to drive here today.

There was a photograph of the river and the bridge, it has distressed me so much, my thoughts were of my girl standing there in the dark and alone . Thoughts I have not allowed to come to mind, they flooded my mind.

Will this ever pass ?

Sounds like a comedy sketch but this is a small town , no full time fire service, then the firemen had day jobs, still do, if needed in the day an alarm went off from the top of the town hall, at night the firemen had alarms in their homes, they got paid for call outs and one evening a week for fire practice . Now they have mobile phones. The hospital only had three wards, male , female and maternity , even the police use to call in the hospital in the night for a cuppa with staff . Doctors on call at night were GP’s from the surgery. Rather a cosy place to bring up children.
This came to mind when firemen no longer rescuing cats was on tv this week. It brought back that pantomime ?

What a lovely memory to have Annie ??

It's the little things like hearing a song on the radio, a tv program, news article or just something popping into our minds that keep our loved ones memories alive.

I still go to ring my Mum to tell her some snippet of news and then remember that she is not here, so I tell her photograph, I get comfort from my belief that she can hear me.

Thank you all so much x

I needed to post about the ring panto, come next week I will have spoken often for a year about my daughters illnesses, her death, meme posts when in despair.

What my daughter said to the fireman was said in fun, she had a great sense of humour , two years ago on my birthday in the evening there was a knock at the door, there she was with fireworks stuck in plant pots singing happy birthday. She had been with me earlier in the day.

I said last November she was my joy, my tears, my world. My tears were for the last years of her life , my joy was all the years that came before. I have now shared a little of the laughter and this is my daughter not the illness . I was blessed she was my child and I thank my God for her .

Thank you x

She sounds like quite a character! It is so good for us all to hear about the joyful years before she became unwell.

Sounds like she was a very caring daughter Annie, what a great relationship you had with her. I remember you said last year how people spoke up about their special memories of her, quite a woman. You must be very proud.

Annie I am so pleased that you have such lovely memories of the times spent with your daughter.

You have been kind enough to share with us some over lovely stories.
She was obviously quite a woman and proves that it's the little things that we remember most.
Your birthday fireworks in the plant pots is such a joyous forever memory.sunshine

* annie* what a lovely funny story. Please share your memories with us if you can and try and remember the good times and laughter. Your daughter sounds as thought she would want you to have some lightness in your life. x

Anniebach Thu 01-Nov-18 21:12:13

How kind you all are, x

A year ago today I reached out to you and thank God you were there for me, that day really was ‘the dark night of the soul’for me , you have also been with me through the year, and I cannot express what this means, ‘thank you ‘ seems so inadequate .

I had hoped my sisters would have contacted me today but no, so I have to accept now there will be no reconciliation.

So I will now concentrate on recovery from this wretched agoraphobia, self inflicted !.

She really filled our lives with love and laughter and was so caring. The dog rescue charity she started is still going strong as is the residents association she formed , children have a lovely playing field she fought for when she was a town councillor.

Her name is Catherine
