I was asked today if I had met her during the war- actually no, I was born in September 1943.

RIP a wonderful lady.

103 some age! RIP Dame Vera.

Having said that I do remember my father, like most men of his age in the armed forces for the entire duration of the war, saying he couldn't stand the mawkish "we'll meet again" and "White Cliffs of Dover"

What a great age. Vera Lynn must have outlived most of the service men and women she sang to.

RIP

She lived in a village near us. Good age. She was a year older than mum who died this year, and her daughter is a year older than me.

Saying that mum always turned her nose up at her songs. I think time has made her more important.

I think the troops that she visited loved and appreciated her and her visits and singing boosted their morale at a time when it was sorely needed.
What a wonderful age to reach.

RIP Dame Vera
