My dad passed away last year and I was his executor. What I found hardest was navigating a completely alien world of grief alongside practical probate actions that were just as alien. I didn't know what needed doing, in what order, or what was even ‘normal’ to expect. I'd finish one thing and then discover something else I should have started weeks earlier, or find out too late that I could have done two things at once, all while trying to adjust to my new reality.
I'm curious whether that's a common experience or just mine. A few things I'd love to know, if you're willing to share:
- Did you feel like you knew what to do and when, or were you figuring it out as you went?
- Was there a point where you just wished someone could tell you "here's what's next" rather than you having to work it out yourself?
- Was there anyone you could talk to who actually understood what you were going through, or did that feel harder to find than working out what to do?
Am trying to understand whether this was just me, or something a lot of people go through. Really appreciate anyone willing to share their experience

Has anyone else noticed their energy levels change as they've got older?
