SUICIDE OF MY GRANDCHILD - NO HELP

I wonder if any of you can help me, I hope and pray none of you have gone through this but maybe you know of someone who could help me? My granddaughter took her life this year, she was only 15. My daughter and I found her in horrible circumstances. I have been chasing around trying to get my daughter help. She is suffering from trauma. Her little girls face is beside her all the time, that's all she can see. We were told that a counsellor would contact us within 72 hours that never happened. The police blame NHS the NHS blame the police and I just run between them getting nowhere. It's been almost 2 months and she's had no help, everything has been so hard. She's drinking a lot to blot everything out which isn't helping. I'm caring for the remaining children and have not been able to grieve the loss of my beautiful granddaughter. Does anyone know how I can get help? My daughter is speaking to someone from a charity on Thursday but its just an assessment, we needed help 2 months ago. I am so scared she's going to do the same thing our of sheer desperation. I cannot believe she can just be left like this. Well I can because that's how my grand daughter was left with no help until she couldn't bear it any longer. I have been fighting this for weeks and I am beginning to feel defeated. I can just see my daughter losing everything, her home, job even the kids. She's a single parent, her ex is useless. Can anyone help us. I would just like to know who should have helped in the first instance and get them to do it now.

I have a friend and her husband who fundraise for the Papyrus project for young suicides.

I wonder if they could help.

First of all, I am very sorry for your loss ....unfortunately mental health support is thin on the ground these days....don't worry yourself with who 'should have' ....concentrate on moving forward....has your DD seen the gp? Has she been referred ( or self referred' ) to any support service? ....is she looking for specific support....ie with her drinking? Is she asking youbto help her find support?

Oh Grammy57 this is so heartbreaking, my friends son did this too he was a bit older just coming up to 21
He had everything
As the police etc haven’t come up with counselling have you asked at your or your daughters doctors for help
There are bereavement counsellors at most hospitals I believe Could you afford a private counsellor to save waiting any longer
I can’t imagine how heart broken you both are

I’m so sorry for what your daughter and you are going through. I am sure others on here who have suffered this most tragic loss will be able to offer you some advice and support.

This website lists organisations that can help (including the one Primrose has suggested).

My friend lost her 19 year old son to suicide in 2020. She says she was greatly supported by MIND.
