Free books on Kindle

if you are looking for classics on Kindle such as Jane Austin, Dickens, Agatha Christie, P.G.Wpdehouse.etc these can be found for less than 99p or even free,if you look at the more expensive version and then scroll the page all the way down untill you come to reccomended books, you will quite ofton find a much cheaper version. like the supermarkets the prices and titles get shuffled about by Amazon,i have seen books i have got free and then after a few weeks they have a price on them and visa versa,its all a marketing ploy.so have a keen eye and memory you will be amazed at what you can find for less than a pound or free.on your Kindle....Lillian.

All the clasics are free on Project Gutenburg too, plus a lot of obscure out-of-copyright titles.

I've just finished Cat & Mouse by Tim Vicary currently free on Kindle. I really enjoyed it - I had read a couple of his previous books on the trials of Sarah Newby, but this is different.

It is a romance and a thriller with an interesting historical background, quite a few plot lines going on, but very well done.

It is set in 1914 and is about 2 sisters, one lives in London and is a militant suffragette, the other is in Ireland and her husband joins the Ulster Volunteers.

Recommended.

There is a new Tim Vicary free on Kindle today, Bold Counsel (The Trials of Sarah Newby. I've not read it yet, but his other books have been really good.

My wife gets books almost free on her e-reader. She recently got three books about a jockey/detective ala Dick Francis written in the 1990s. I read all three in the last four days: they are rather like novellas. This collection is called "The Eddie Malloy Series". It is written by two v. knowledgeable writers who seem to have a deep background in jumps and flat track racing including Ascot which I have never been to but watched on television. I also read coverage of Ascot in the Telegraph - wish I could get my lovely bride to dress up and wear a fascinator!

Has anyone got a blackberry tablet it doubles as an e-reader but getting books on it is absolute pants. All it seems to offer is American High School romance.
Any ladies on here had any success with their Blackberry tablet.

I have downloaded Night Monsters by Lauren White from Amazon for free. It's a emotional churner but I really enjoyed it.

Just seen that "After the Fall" by Charity Norman is available at the moment on Kindle for only 99p. It is a brilliant book, well worth having.

This an enormous resource of free books. Although they do ask people to make a donation to running the site. It does not have recent books as it consists of out of copyright books digitised by volunteers. This means the range of books reflects digitisers interests but it has many thousand of books available, but but if you want the classics or esoteric literature in a variety of languages, then this is the place to go. I did manage to find some John Buchan here

I Will Have What Is Mine by Jane Lythell. It's real page turner.

Also good value at under a pound in The Bookseller of Grasse which is set in Provence.

I have a feeling that library ebooks can be downloaded for free onto an ipod.

Does anyone know how to get the Gutenberg books onto your kindle. I downloaded one but have no idea where it went

I was able to download one directly without a problem. i did it directly from my kindle and not via my computer. Unfortunately I haven't done it recently so I cannot remember how I did it.

Did you have any luck with Gutenberg broomsticks? As grandimars posted earlier on this thread, you download from Gutenberg to your computer then drag & drop to your kindle. I did try but it wouldn't do as it was told.
Don't know what I did wrong.
