I've been scanning the Book Club thread and I've read most of the ones recommended and all the Monthly Reads.

The October Book isn't available on Kindle yet.

I'm in a literary limbo and just looking for a good read .

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I agree about Ann Tyler and Anita Shreve - another is Jane Smiley, especially "A Thousand Acres".

I have just re read "East of Eden" and "The Grapes of Wrath" and remembered why I love Steinbeck!

Have you read "The Goldfinch" by Donna Tart yet, Anya? It is completely gripping.

I can read a book in a day, but I read very fast - great asset for an English graduate / teacher!

'Wild Water' and 'Dark Water' by Jan Ruth. Excellent contemporary fiction. I reviewed them on my blog at putitinwritng.me today
