The smell of the freshly-cut grass as someone else cuts my front lawn for me. A splendid set of books for someone.

After 30 years' really hard work the rubble-tip I inherited is now a gorgeous, rampant, scent-filled flower-and-produce Permaculture garden & for the first time I can sit in it & relax with friends, family & young grandchildren this Summer!

My favourite thing about Summer is being able to shed some layers of clothes, turn off the heating and have some cool drinks whilst relaxing, - instead of wearing 2 or 3 thick jumpers ( which don't do anything for the figure!) heating on full, stoking up the log burner every couple of hours and drinking lots of mugs of hot tea and soup! Now waiting for the school holidays when I can take the grandchildren out for days, spoil them to bits, and then go on holiday with all the family (10 of us) as we do each year. It's not where you go on holiday but who you go with that makes the Summer so special.

I just love sitting in the garden on a sunny day with a good book - I start with the iced coffee then an ice-cream and once the sun is over the yard-arm I get the Pimms out!

Summer the most wonderful season of the year. The aroma of the flowers, the delights of the garden, the smell of the sea. I love to hear the laughter of the children playing in the park or on the beach. To watch the seagulls flying overhead. To relax in the garden with my favourite book and listen to all the summer sounds in the background. To remember summers past playing in the street, picnics, and caravan holidays with my parents and siblings. Happy days and happy memories.

What a brilliant selection of books!

My favourite thing about summer is being able to wear comfortable summer sandals without the need for socks, stockings or tights etc. I love summer!

the best thing about this summer is being told there are no more tumours evident in my body smile

My favourite thing about summer is the warm embrace of heat from the sun. It's such a feeling of freedom not having to go around in layers of clothing when gardening. sunshine

Long hours of light.....an extension of our days to enjoy, the warmth, the sun, the lovely evenings. Time with families, time to enjoy all the things one never seems to have time for in the shorter days of the rest of the year! Bring it on!!!

Going to visit my grandchildren. I only see them once a year during the summer as they live in Canada.

I love being able to go for long walks especially on these light sultry nights and if we get to take a picnic, just like when we were kids ! smile

Has to be the joy of spending extended time with my darling grandkids

Bobbysgirl19 Sun 28-Jun-15 10:54:13

My absolutely number one favourite thing about Summer is the long days! Not having to draw the curtains at five o'clock and put lights on! Psychologically darkness tells me its night time and I suspect that SAD creeps in!

Summer days are lengthy, lots of sunshine, time spent in the garden, friends appear out of the woodwork, I see the neighbours, lots of strawberries, I could go on and on for ever!

Long reign Summer, I love you.

favourite thing about summer - being able to enjoy the beautiful flowers in the garden, eating my own home grown produce and being able to sit and relax with a good book in the knowledge that all the hard work of digging up that stubborn dandelion has paid off
