SUMMER

Light evenings and light early mornings mean I get up early and enjoy it! Having the grandchildren to spend time on the nearby beaches!

Like to grow own tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and fill the garden with home raised plants and flowers.

Gvenojo Wed 01-Jul-15 17:59:14

Simply life slowing down. Balmy evenings!

My favourite thing about summer is being able to enjoy so many different vegetables grown in my garden.

Light summer mornings! Wandering around my little garden with a light dew on the grass and the strange light that comes just before the sun gets up.
It's a peaceful time to enjoy and think about what the day might bring, while everyone else-except the birds and the cat-are still in bed. Bliss!

I like being able to spend time in the sun and having longer evenings

My favourite thing about summer is the Free Food Walks. When I walk the dogs from now there are different free fruits to pick and eat. The cherries are just starting. The plums are next and then there will be delicious,delicately-flavoured wild raspberries in theancient wood near by. When they end the blackberries begin in all the parks and woods around here; so many and for so long that I can have a tummy full and a bag full daily for several weeks. And then there are apples. The trees up the road look as if they are going to do well this year.

I have two favourite things about summer (when it is a good summer) - firstly, there are so many beautiful and wonderful places to visit right on our doorstep, many of them free. Entertaining children becomes so easy - a visit to the park can become a real adventure and picnics make any trip more fun. Best of all, summer outings can be free or low-cost.

My other favourite thing about a nice summer is being able to go out into the garden in the evening and sit and enjoy a good book along with a glass of Pimms.

I love the bright morning and long lazy warm evenings everyone is happier x

Wonderfully long light days, short nights and time to spend outside in the wonderful world of nature. Hearing children's laughter and the sound of the ice cream van that takes you back to your own childhood.

Eating stawberries & ice cream while reading my book under the shade of a large tree in the garden.

Playfulgilly Wed 01-Jul-15 21:10:54

The chance to be outside more. A glass of wine in the garden at 9pm and its still light and warm.

busterjames Wed 01-Jul-15 21:13:54

Love going to the park in the sunshine with my grandkids and buying an ice cream on the way home....bliss

Granslife Wed 01-Jul-15 21:17:00

My favourite thing about summer is knowing that - at some point - all my family will gather together, somewhere, in a place commonly agreed, to relax and have fun. Fun, whether it be in the rain, the wind, the sun, usually in Northumberland.

Thebeeb Wed 01-Jul-15 22:14:01

Flowers, sunshine, wearing whatever I like in bright colours and not caring what people think. Smiling and saying hello to people who smile back. Aqua fit in the outside pool. Letting the grandchildren play with water in the garden. Playing chase with the grandchildren even if they say "don't worry Nannie we will walk when it's your turn"!!! And guess what only one of these costs anything.

Caro1000 Wed 01-Jul-15 22:23:09

The warmth, long light warm evenings, chilling with friends over a bar-b-que with a long cold drink, the smell of the flowers and freshly cut grass, the washing drying outside, the wonderful selection of fruit, I could go on an on....

Janana1 Wed 01-Jul-15 22:36:39

Cricket, cycling and picking strawberries. Grandkids are away from technology and we all laugh a lot, have so much fun. This is when I'm at my happiest!

janekirk Wed 01-Jul-15 22:46:53

The smell of cut grass and the perfume from all the flowers

Whiteknight22 Wed 01-Jul-15 22:56:38

Being able to travel to places I've never seen before little country villages. Ordering Latte and a cream scone in a lovely old fashioned cafe, in a seat near the window with a book in my hand. Bliss!

vampirequeen Wed 01-Jul-15 23:49:50

Being able to take the caravan to a small, out of the way site and chill with no TV or laptop. Lazy days reading instead.
