Light, fresh air, hope, gorgeous gardens, soft warm sand, paddling in the sea and the squeaks of tiny children playing in lovely open spaces

Spending quality time outside with my beautiful grandchildren!

My favourite thing about the summer is eating lots and lots of fresh strawberries.

When Summer sadly goes, there's always Autumn to look forward to - perhaps an Indian Summer - lovely leaf colours and the delight of it becoming cooler and thereby cosier and I can light the first fire of Winter. Then comes the snow to amuse the children and puzzle the animals - and suddenly (although they've been telling us for ages) it's Christmas and that's wonderful family and then hopefully, it's Spring again and another year has gone by.......soon it will be Easter!!

Our beautiful new home with the glass roof letting in all that wonderful light. Our family just chilling out there while I cook for them. Just awesome smile

Enjoying having children around and hearing their happy laughter, it just makes life extra special.

Living in Scotland, the rain is a bit warmer in summer! OK that's a bit tongue in cheek, I do like having more freedom to get out and about with kids not being in school, and the quick, quiet drives to work with no school traffic.

Summer? Sun and sunburn, heat and heat spots, hayfever, constant discomfort, noise and crowds and traffic jams - Summer is Hell. The best thing about it is it lasts only a couple of days and given a good book you can ignore it. Bring on the Autumn!

Not having to wear socks, tights or pop socks and going barefoot whenever possible. Just love to get my toes OUT.

My favourite thing about summer is the vibrant colours and lush greenness everywhere and being able to sit in the garden to enjoy it.

Having our daughter and two of our beautiful grandchildren over for a visit. They are coming to stay in August for a week.
It's always hectic, but so much fun. We fit in times for visiting the relatives, especially my Mother (Great Nanna Doll) who's 84 next week, all the rest of the family & their partners & grandchildren coming over for a BBQ weekend. It's not often all five of our children are together anymore but this year we will be for e the first time since 2010.
I love reading with our nearly five year old Grandson Jake & two year old Granddaughter Grace, I so miss that snuggling down after a bath & having reading time.
Then there's Blackpool, we always visit for a day out, sandwiches, water, buckets & spades, cool ice lollies & lots of suntan cream.
Sitting down in the evenings with our daughter & just talking, catching up.
Sadly the week goes by so quickly it feels like they land then they take off again. But we will see them as we are going to visit them in the New Year.

The thing I love best about summer, is listening to the kids outside having fun, the smell of lovely fresh mown grass, and the smouldering smell of BBQ while reminiscing of days gone by when I was that child running around in the sun having fun

Anna423 Mon 13-Jul-15 15:00:21

What I love about summer is that it seems to overall improve everyone's mood and that makes summer a more pleasant season!

GrannyCaz1 Mon 13-Jul-15 15:01:49

Relaxing in the garden with a good book whilst the grandchildren run about and have fun

Annie390 Mon 13-Jul-15 15:01:59

My favourite thing about summer is the early mornings when everything is quiet and before it gets too hot

Grandmalove Mon 13-Jul-15 15:02:27

Shedding the winter woollies and feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin make me feel like a new woman.smile

Chell53 Mon 13-Jul-15 15:02:48

My favourite thing about summer is the long daylight hours. i suffer very badly from SAD during the sutumn and winter months and in the summer i find it so nice to be able to wake up early to the sun shining and go out for an early morning walk in the park, hopefully without being rained on! :-/

davo Mon 13-Jul-15 15:04:55

I love an early morning start in summer when dawn breaks around 5 am.
The best part of the day, everywhere is still fresh and the birds are very vocal, the "Dawn Chorus" at its best

out2grass Mon 13-Jul-15 15:09:38

I love the summer because more people walk around with a smile on their face and their heads held high.

So lovely to see how much good the sun is doing for people and raising their spirits.

Annieluds Mon 13-Jul-15 15:11:07

The best thing about Summer is the sunshine, it makes people more happy.

Souperkiki Mon 13-Jul-15 15:15:49

I love doing a few garden chores like tidying up and watering plants and flowers etc at night then rewarding myself with a well earned drink of two with my husband who does all the back breaking work earlier in the day.

I love the fact that we can get in the garden and take more walks without the brolly!
