Sitting in the garden in the evenings, surrounded by family, with the BBQ lit and a nice glass of chilled wine

What a great prize! My favourite thing about summer is the long nights in the garden, with kids, candles and Chimnea!

What an incredible selection of books! Certainly something for everyone there.

My favourite thing about summer is having longer days to enjoy. The short, dark winter days can be so depressing and anti-social. Being able to go for evening walks, or catch up with friends in the evenings while still enjoying daylight is wonderful and much more fun. Even getting up in the morning is so much easier when it's bright and sunny outside!

Living by the coast, the nicest thing about the summer is when the family come to visit

Growing up on the coast from the age of six I have many happy memories of summer. Many outings to the beach as a child and a bit of " courting" on the sandhills in my teens. Wonderful memories of taking our sons to the beach and rock pools, and more recently our three grandchildren ( they even have showers on the beach now to wash away the sand that gets everywhere !). However since last year I have to have a wheelchair to get out and about. The beach unfortunately is not negotiable in a wheelchair but almost everywhere else is. I now appreciate everything in a very different light. The sea seems to sparkle more when we sit on the promenade in the evening, the quiet wooshing of the waves plays a tune.. I never noticed it when we were busy playing. I still love summer and last weekend was no exception. Our three grandchildren came to stay for the weekend and we took them to the fountains on the promenade ( a flat recreation area with playing fountains).I always used to join in playing in the freezing cold water. Whilst we were having an ice-cream our five year old grandson in his naiivity said " Why don't you come in Nanna". Why not! I thought. Grandaddad duly pushed me into the fountains in my wheelchair. All five of us wet through and having a wonderful time. I LOVE SUMMER!!!

I love summers for me it is walking along the beach, shoes off and paddling in the sea, my absolutely favourite pastime. However given a beautiful warm sea I do enjoy swimming as well, or jumping the waves.

Warmth up my nostrils instead of icy cold, that's what I love along with one of those pink Magnums bliss.

Long sunny days at the seaside, burying the old 'uns in the sand, having a much deserved ice-cream, family gatherings, and looking at the photos after and remembering the great day we had.

my favourite thing about summer is I can open all the windows in the house and let the sun shine in and troubles fly out. The washing dries on the line and I can bring it in, fold it and put it away all on the same day. Sometimes (like today) I can wash the duvet, sheets & pillowcases on our bed and bring them in (full of sunshine) and put them back o the bed - nice and fresh and clean!! Everyone seems to have a smile on their face today - the sun is out and it's warm. When it's cold and miserable outside, everyone seems to be the same - unsmiling and worried looking.

I like the smell of the garden in the evening. We have the back door open and the smell wafts into the living room, it's lovely smile

The thing I love about Summer is Nature. The birds tweeting to each other in the mornings is so lovely. I really miss that in Winter when all I can hear then is the rain.

Angella Tue 14-Jul-15 18:58:33

I love walking outside without a coat on and wearing flip flops or sandals instead of boots. I also love the flowers in the garden and the lovely night lights
