My favourite thing about Summer is being able to enjoy being out in my garden x

I love going on long walks in the forest with my Husband. We take a picnic basket with us and make a day of it.

Oh, the buzzin of the bees in the cigarette trees .....
..... the soda water fountain .....

Mmmmm, cool drinks and the natural sounds of summer like the busy bees, the rustling of the trees; the scents and sounds which suggest long days outdoors. Summer in Britain includes the whack of a cricket bat or a tennis ball, the tinkle of tea cups and ladies in white hats. Pimms, strawbs and cream, ice lollies and the rush of the sea as it draws back pebbles. Swinging in a hammock with a good book and a low murmur of the radio...

My most favourite thing about summer though, is watching the garden grow.

Light mornings and evenings. Being out in the garden. Turning the heating off. Grilled sardines and salad and a glass of chilled something. Beaches, countryside and long walks.

Light Summer nights when you can go for a walk, invite friends round, do a spot of gardening or just chill out on the garden swing with a good book & a glass of wine

Summer brings a sense of freedom somehow......doors and windows open, the smell of fresh washing blowing in the breeze, blue skies and fluffy clouds, birds and bees flying and buzzing around contentedly. It is just that feeling of "everything is alright with the world". Surprising really, just what the summer can do to a soul. sunshine

Walking my dog through the local meadows which are full of wild flowers and then coming home and reading a good book in the garden with a glass of something cold and preferably fizzy.

That's a fantastic collection of books - I particularly fancy the new Harper Lee book and 'Animal QC: My Preposterous Life' looks intriguing.

My favourite thing about summer is the ease of it all - the primitive lizard part of my brain relaxes in the warmth - and the blue colour of the sky is so beautiful. It's just easier to be happy in the summer.

Summer: watching the kites fly overhead at 8:00pm to the local feeding station, 300 sets of wings batting across the sky, darkening the setting sun, while enjoying hot weather, wine and a new book. Bliss!

my fav thing about summer is... the warm summer sunshine on my face, the light bright evenings, spending more time outdoors in the fresh air with friends and family and the sunny smiles on everyones faces!

I love sitting outside in my garden, with a drink (coffee or wine), and a good book to read. Best way to spend a summers afternoon away from the aggrevation of life.

I love the early morning before it gets warm. Summer is the only time of year I like to get up very early actually.

jo1book Fri 19-Jun-15 10:07:26

The long, long days of daylight; being able to read in natural light from early morning to early evening. Heavenly.

my favourite thing about summer is getting in the garden and watching my fruit and veggies I have nurtured grow.. tastes so much better than shop bought ones also you feel proud that you have grown them.

The longer days, when it;s just warm enough, with a breeze,so the washing dries, and hearing children;s laughter as they play out, heaven

Yvainesgrandma Fri 19-Jun-15 10:11:23

Walking my dogs and finding the children playing by the stream on rope swings , hearing them laughing and not a Play station in sight.

juliedee Fri 19-Jun-15 10:11:50

the light mornings are brilliant especially if you wake up early, so much nicer than dark winter days, also the warmth on your skin makes you feel so much better

lettie Fri 19-Jun-15 10:12:17

My favourite things about summer are lavender and bees. I love to drape my pillow-cases on the lavender bushes as they air. The drone of the bees on lazy summer afternoons are a lovely backdrop to afternoon tea in the shade of the ash tree.

Going to see live music in various outdoor venues. Looking forward to Paloma Faith @ Bedgebury Pinetum smile

Nonnie Fri 19-Jun-15 10:13:41

My favourite thing is the quietness and nature in my garden, only bettered by having family and/or friends to join me.

bmteal Fri 19-Jun-15 10:15:40

My favourite thing about Summer is that my family and Grandchildren who live abroad come to visit me. I miss them all so much. My youngest Son is arriving next week. Yippee.!!! When friends and family all get together for a great big catch up is my dream. Hope the weather is warm and sunny for a garden party. I cannot wait.!!! Smiles and laughter all round very soon.
Grin.

Seeing the flowers grow, listening to the birds, seeing the soft fruit grow, plus sunny days (hopefully) and enjoying walks

magwis Fri 19-Jun-15 10:19:47

Sitting in the sun watching the baby birds. All the season events such as Ascot, Wimbledon, Goodwood, etc. Seeing how people enjoy themselves in their finery. The long evenings and early light mornings.

Geeky Fri 19-Jun-15 10:20:28

Sitting in the sun with a good book - and what a collection we have as a prize

wallers5 Fri 19-Jun-15 10:23:30

Sunshine, warmth, blue skies & picnics by a river.
