I'm looking forward to the book. There is so much sycophantic twaddle written about the Royal Family, it will be refreshing to read something that they have no control over. I don't blame H if he does a hatchet job on the woman who made his mam so unhappy or on the father who betrayed his mother. It seems to me that he did his bit for the RF. Tried to conform. Joined the armed forces. Went to war because he was the expendable one. Yet, at the end of the day, he's the demon who is supposed to be easily led by his equally demonic wife whilst his brother and wife are promoted as virtual saints.
It's time some people lost their rose-tinted glasses. This book might help with that, but it will be vilified in the media and royalists will simply refuse to believe it.

‘Spare’ by Prince Harry
(740 Posts)To be published in January. Oh dear ?
Agree with you Ladyleftfieldlover. And, we should not judge a book by its cover. Read it first.
Well said, "VampireQueen"!
Very few 'hate' him or her. Most hate the lies.

Well, I have the upmost sympathy for Harry, none of us can possibly know what his life/feelings consist of, I have not a shred of criticism for him only a pondering thought of will there be regret ? That is my worry.
Will I read the book? Probably so.
Would you feel as content if you were publicly desparaged in the same way by your children and grandchildren?
I'm with you. I like Harry and will read the book. The royal family is a business intent on its own preservation. They even call it the firm themselves.

Indeed Namsnanny, and the criticisms of his entire family.
I've just had an idea, we could order the book through WHSmith,
We hope you are delighted with everything you buy from us. However, if you are not, we will refund or replace your order up to 30 days after purchase
and return it when we are "undelighted" with the content!
Farzanah I’m finding the whole circus hugely entertaining, and a distraction on these darkening days.
That about says it all.
I tend towards agreeing with volver what makes middle aged women so enraged by a posh bloke in the US writing a book

*how can we ever know what is true and what is 'Harry's truth' (ie a lie).*
Guilty until proved innocent eh
When what he and she have previously written or said and the contadicted themselves and where there is definite evidence to that effect.
Many people suspect that Meghan has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. If this is true I pity Harry because it will be very hard indeed for him to think for himself. People with NPD can be extremely clever and manipulative and the partner does not have to be 'weak' to be controlled. We all have vulnerable points and those with NPD are wickedly cunning in exploiting them. Time will tell (hopefully) for Harry. I won't be buying the book!
But nobody hates her.
Well, hardly anybody.
If only she didn't tell lies.
Of course you do vegansrock. You clearly agree that people should be called names by adults ie called haters. I think adults should behave in a more refined way and not name call like children in a school playground. No doubt Marina Hyde would think me old fashioned. If old fashioned means polite, then I try to be so, despite some provocation at times. Personally I think Marina Hyde would do well to refrain from name calling in her column.
Goodness, what a lot of Harry Haters.
To me, he's the only member of the RF who has any integrity. He fought for this country without special privileges, gives not only his time but his money to charities he feels as strongly about as his mother did hers, and he had the backbone to give up a role he'd been brought up to fulfil and all the privileges that came with it in order to protect his wife and family and remove them from the toxic cesspit of the RF and what Diana referred to as "the men in grey suits".
Compare that to the man who not only duped a naive 19 year old virgin into believing he loved her, in order to use her as a well-bred brood mare but who as Diana herself described made no effort to bring her happiness and indeed was soon back to busily screwing the woman whose gift of cufflinks with their entwined initials inscribed he actually WORE ON HIS HONEYMOON!
Also - if the RF have done nothing to be ashamed of why on earth are they allegedly so upset and worried about what Harry's book will say?

There is an interesting article in the Guardian today - ‘Please spare me all of this Harry-hating’ by Marina Hyde.
Exactly.
It is true it’s hard to have any sympathy for Harry because he is rich and privileged and has been so all his life. He has never had to stand in a queue at the food bank in order to feed his children. Neither have I but then I’m not telling the world how hard done by I was and am now. Perhaps he could do some real voluntary work (not set up for cameras) and appreciate how difficult life is for some people. His Well Child work and Invictus Games are really successful. He could be successful in other spheres and derive real satisfaction from doing that if he could stop dwelling on everything that he perceives was wrong with his life.
Quote from that article by Marina Hyde
“ The Sussexes draw more ire than genocidal dictators – from people who struggle to articulate exactly what their problem is.”
Harry Haters
Can we just stop the name calling and be a little more mature please?

And that’s her opinion only, not a fact!
Amen!!
Apparently he has excused his outpourings by saying we are the product of our upbringing. So I suppose he can't help himself. It's like the adolescent cry of, "I didn't ask to be born!" My philosophy, " Well, you were so you might as well get on with it!"
I'm the middle one of three sisters. My parents weren't perfect but which of us can claim to be? They were human beings and they did their best. As an adult, I carry no emotional baggage, no resentments (although one of my sisters does). Harry would be happier if he let go of his.
She could have chosen to really make something of her life, not just drift around. Ditto many others in the same situation
I don’t think anyone of us could ever accuse QEII of drifting around - she sacrificed so much of her life serving the nation

Totally agree with every word, vampirequeen
I also find it astonishing that people virtually canonise his brother and wife.
The sight of Kate, Camilla and Sophie grouping themselves together and clearly ostracising Meghan, who had to stand alone behind them during a part of the Queen's funeral (which I hasten to say I watched as it was a major historical event, not because I'm a RF fan) sickened me.
It was such a public, unnecessary and cruel snub and the sour expressions on all three faces did the women no favours whatsoever. In fact it was the sort of bullying behaviour I'd expect to find in a primary school.
However, as you say the Royalists will, like Tory voters, simply refuse to believe a word which doesn't tally with their own view.

You haven't read the post properly. I wasn't talking about the Queen. The post was about Princess Margaret.
I wont be buying the book.
. Sorry if I am repeating what others have said (there are too many comments and I've not read them all!) but someone said we should all be donating £28 to charity (in my case a dog's charity) rather than buy the book - and that's my choice and what I will be doing!!!
Harry isn't the first celeb to publish a book of dubious quality and veracity. He won't be the last. Celeb sells. It's the way of the world. Thank goodness there are plenty of good writers and books being published and it's easy to sort the wheat from the chaff.
